Yobe Orders Immediate Closure of Boarding Secondary Schools Over Security Concerns

The Yobe State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools as part of heightened measures to protect students amid rising security concerns in parts of the country.

The directive followed a security review meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni, alongside heads of security agencies in the state. The meeting assessed recent security incidents affecting schools in several states and resolved to adopt proactive steps to prevent potential threats.

A notice issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar, mandated the immediate shutdown of all boarding secondary schools until the situation improves.

Governor Buni urged residents to remain calm and continue to pray for peace, safety, and God’s guidance for the nation’s leaders and security operatives working to stabilise the country.
