Senator Ali Ndume has condemned the reported abduction of 13 girls during farm harvest in Huyim, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, describing the incident as deeply distressing and profoundly unacceptable.
In a statement on Sunday, Ndume decried the renewed wave of attacks across communities in Borno South, noting that the latest abduction comes shortly after several deadly incidents. These include the gruesome killing of eight residents in Warabe, Gwoza Local Government; the murder of two soldiers and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force; and the abduction of a military commander in Wajirko, Damboa Local Government Area. He added that similar acts of terror were recently recorded in Chibok.
Ndume said the recurring attacks were heartbreaking and a reminder of the urgent need for the government to reinforce security architecture across affected communities.
> “The protection of lives and property remains the primary and non-negotiable duty of government, and this responsibility must be upheld with renewed commitment and unwavering resolve. The current cycle of violence must come to an end,” he stated.
The senator extended condolences to families who lost loved ones in what he described as senseless attacks. He expressed hope that security agencies currently working to rescue the abducted girls would succeed and that peace would be restored to all communities in Borno South.
Ndume urged security operatives to intensify ongoing operations and called for improved collaboration between government, communities and the military to stem the tide of insurgent activities in the region.
