Insecurity: Federal Polytechnic suspends academic activities

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has suspended all academic activities following a directive by the Bauchi State Government ordering the closure of all schools due to rising insecurity across the state.

The suspension was announced in an internal memo signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Safiyo Yila, on behalf of the Registrar, and circulated to staff and students on Monday.

According to the memo, the institution acted in compliance with the government’s directive, which affects primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions statewide.

“Sequel to the public announcement by the Bauchi State Government, which directed the closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions within the state due to security concerns, I am directed to inform you that all academic activities have been suspended with immediate effect,” the memo stated.

Yila added that academic activities would resume at a later date to be communicated to the Polytechnic community in due course. He further directed all heads of departments to ensure full compliance with the suspension for the safety of staff and students.

The state-wide shutdown of schools follows heightened security concerns in Bauchi, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures to safeguard learners and education workers.
