FUD Appoints 4th Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, on Saturday approved the appointment of Professor Ahmed Mohammed Gumel as the fourth Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

The appointment followed the recommendation of the University’s Selection Committee after a rigorous and transparent selection process conducted in line with established university regulations and extant federal guidelines. Professor Gumel succeeds the outgoing Vice-Chancellor and is expected to provide strategic leadership geared towards strengthening academic excellence, research, innovation, and overall institutional development.

Professor Ahmed Mohammed Gumel is a seasoned academic and administrator with many years of experience in teaching, research, and university management. He is a Professor of Industrial Biotechnology, with strong research interests in biotechnology applications, bioprocess technology, and industrial innovation.

He obtained his postgraduate degrees in Biotechnology from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, and has made significant contributions to scientific research through numerous publications in reputable local and international journals.

Prior to his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gumel served the university in various capacities, including as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration), where he played a key role in policy formulation, staff development, and the coordination of administrative activities within the university.

In his acceptance remarks, Professor Gumel expressed gratitude to the Governing Council for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work collaboratively with staff, students, and other stakeholders to advance the university’s mandate in teaching, research, and community service.
