
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programme in Artificial Intelligence at Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, Adamawa State.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated May 8, 2026, addressed to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
According to the letter, the university fulfilled all requirements for the establishment of the programme, which will begin in the 2025/2026 academic session.
The approval marks a significant milestone for the institution as it expands into emerging areas of technology, innovation and digital transformation.
The university said the introduction of the Artificial Intelligence programme would further strengthen its commitment to producing globally competitive graduates equipped with modern technological skills.
The development has been widely welcomed by members of the university community and the public, who described it as a major step toward advancing research, innovation and quality education in the institution.
The university also commended the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor, management, Senate, academic planners, staff and other stakeholders whose contributions made the approval possible.
