
The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video showing the alleged brutalisation and maltreatment of an elderly man, Hamza Haruna, in Yolde Pate, Yola South Local Government Area.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, shows the victim alleging that he was assaulted by members of a hunters’ group in Molkohi community.
In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, ordered a discreet and comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The Command condemned all forms of brutality, torture, and inhumane treatment, stressing that no individual or group has the right to take the law into their own hands.
It also warned hunters, vigilante groups, and other local security outfits against acts of abuse, unlawful arrest, or any violation of citizens’ rights, insisting that their activities must remain within legal boundaries.
The police assured that efforts were ongoing to identify all persons involved in the incident and that appropriate action would be taken.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and upholding human rights across the state.
