Zulum Joins Shehu Of Borno, Others For Two Raka’at Eid Prayer

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, joined the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, along with top government officials and hundreds of residents for the two Raka’at Eid prayer at the historic Shehu’s Palace in Maiduguri.

The Eid prayer was led by the Imam Idaini of Borno, Imam Shettima Mamman Saleh, at the Ramat Square.

Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Shettima Saleh, in his sermon shortly after the prayers, enjoined muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

He encouraged well-spirited individuals and philanthropists to spend on charity and share with vulnerable people, especially returnees, during the festive period to give them a sense of belonging.

Imam Shettima Mamman praised God Almighty for witnessing another Eid and called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another.

He offered special prayers for peace in the state and entire country.

Dignitaries, including Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, APC Chairman, Bello Ayuba, members of the House of Representatives and Secretary to Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani, attended the Eid prayers.

Also present are the Head of Service, Dr Muhammad Ghuluze, Acting Chief of Staff, Dr Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, among many senior government officials.

Zulum, in a Sallah message earlier, called for a collective resolve to address the challenges of insecurity faced in the state. He was quoted as saying, “I extend my warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha, a festival of sacrifice,” Governor Zulum stated. “Let us embody the virtues of patience, charity, and obedience to Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Abraham. We must also keep our brave troops and volunteer forces in our prayers, as their sacrifices enable us to live in peace.”

“My recent visit to Marte, Rann, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa, Kukawa and Monguno is reassuring; we will continue to build resilience among our people. This is the only way to defeat insurgency. On my part, I will continue to make extra sacrifices and invest hugely in the security sector to achieve sustainable peace, ” he added.
