
The Taraba State Government has extended its sympathy and support to the government and people of Niger State following the devastating flood disaster that recently struck Mokwa Local Government Area.
A high-powered delegation led by the Senator representing Taraba Central, Senator Manu Haruna, visited the Niger State Government House in Minna on Tuesday to convey condolences on behalf of the government and people of Taraba State.
Senator Haruna, while describing the incident as a monumental tragedy and a national disaster, said Taraba State identifies with Niger State in this moment of grief and hardship, particularly the families who lost loved ones and property in the flood.
“As a brotherly state, we are deeply touched by the plight of the victims of the Mokwa flood. We pray that such calamity does not occur again and wish the affected communities speedy recovery,” he said.
The senator, on behalf of the Taraba State Government, announced a donation of ₦50 million to support relief efforts and assist the victims in rebuilding their lives.
Responding, the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, popularly known as the “Farmer Governor,” expressed gratitude for the solidarity and generosity shown by Taraba State.
Governor Bago commended the gesture, stating that it demonstrates unity and brotherhood among Nigerian states in times of adversity. He assured that the donation would be judiciously utilized to alleviate the sufferings of the affected persons.
