The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) says over ₦107 billion has so far been disbursed to beneficiaries of the Students Loan Scheme, as it opens the application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session today.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the fund said the next phase of the scheme would run from Oct. 23, 2025, to Jan. 31, 2026.
“The scoreboard keeps climbing. Over ₦107 billion has already been disbursed, and the next phase is set to begin soon. Applications for the 2025/2026 academic session open today,” the statement read.
NELFUND urged eligible students in public tertiary institutions to apply through its official portal at http://www.nelf.gov.ng.
It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian student was denied access to higher education due to financial constraints.
The Students Loan Scheme, established by the Federal Government, provides interest-free loans to students in public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to cover tuition and related academic expenses.
