
Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has approved the appointment of Dr Sumayya Babangida Sabo as Programme Coordinator of the Adamawa Digital Academy, a key initiative under the state’s digital transformation agenda.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.
According to the statement, Sabo is an Information Systems professional, education administrator and programme manager with extensive experience in digital skills development, academic administration, innovation programmes and information technology management.
The statement noted that she currently serves as Tutor and Information Technology Coordinator at the American University of Nigeria.
It stated that as Programme Coordinator, Sabo would be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the academy’s programmes, student onboarding, stakeholder engagement and academic administration.
The statement added that she would also oversee the implementation of strategic partnerships aimed at positioning the academy as a leading digital skills institution in Nigeria and across Africa.
“The appointment is part of ongoing efforts to operationalise the Adamawa Digital Academy, a flagship initiative under the Adamawa 2.0 Digital Transformation Agenda.
“The academy is designed to train more than 100,000 youths and civil servants in digital and emerging technology skills,” the statement said.
The governor congratulated Sabo on her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to advance the academy’s objectives.
He also wished her success in the discharge of her new responsibilities.
