Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has cautioned political appointees and government officials against anti-party activities, disloyalty and political betrayal as his administration enters its final year in office.
Fintiri gave the warning on Thursday while receiving members of the State Executive Council, Permanent Secretaries and other top government officials who paid him Sallah homage at the Government House in Yola.
The governor said loyalty, unity and dedication remained critical to effective governance, warning that internal sabotage and political distractions could undermine the achievements of the administration.
He reminded appointees that public office was a trust, noting that those who betray confidence might struggle to maintain credibility and respect in future political engagements.
According to him, government officials must remain focused on service delivery rather than personal political ambitions.
Fintiri stressed that governance would not slow down despite the administration entering its final year, adding that greater commitment was expected from all officials to ensure the delivery of campaign promises to the people.
He said the remaining period of his tenure would focus on completing ongoing projects and consolidating reforms aimed at strengthening institutions and improving service delivery in education, infrastructure and healthcare sectors.
The governor also assured residents of a peaceful and orderly transition of power at the end of his tenure in line with democratic principles.
He expressed confidence that the people of Adamawa would sustain and protect the developmental gains recorded under his administration, describing the state as a collective project that must outlive any single government.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, who led the delegation, described Fintiri as a visionary and courageous leader who had successfully managed the affairs of the state despite political and economic challenges.
Farauta said the Sallah homage provided an opportunity to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with the governor, pray for continued peace and unity in the state, and acknowledge the administration’s developmental achievements.
She noted that Adamawa had remained a model of religious harmony where people of different faiths coexist peacefully, adding that the governor’s leadership had strengthened unity and hope among residents.
The deputy governor also offered prayers for Adamawa pilgrims currently performing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia, praying for their safe return and acceptance of their acts of worship.
She further commended the First Lady, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, for her support toward women empowerment and social development initiatives across the state.
Responding, Fintiri appreciated members of the Executive Council and political appointees for their loyalty and contributions to the successes recorded by his administration, urging them to remain committed to the vision of a greater Adamawa State.
