Sadiq Abbas Njiddah Tafida, the House of Representatives member for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, has called for immediate action to repair the deteriorating Jalingo–Numan road in the Northeastern region of Nigeria.
The plea comes in response to the increasing challenges faced by travelers using this crucial route, which serves as a vital link in the area but has been neglected in terms of maintenance.
During an oversight visit by the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Tafida, who recently won a bye-election under the PDP, highlighted the urgent need for rehabilitation.
He described the current state of the road as a hazard endangering both motorists and passengers.
Demonstrating his dedication to addressing the infrastructure deficiencies in his constituency, Tafida vowed to work closely with the Managing Director of FERMA to expedite the repair process.
He emphasized the road’s importance as a lifeline connecting various states in the Northeast and facilitating travel to the Eastern and Western regions of Nigeria.
Despite the initial award of the rehabilitation contract for the Jalingo-Numan road during the first term of former President Muhammadu Buhari, progress on the project has stalled, exacerbating the challenges faced by commuters along this critical route.
