President Bola Tinubu has called upon state governors to prioritize governance over politics and work collaboratively with the federal government to advance the nation’s development agenda.
During a Ramadan fast-breaking event with governors at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, President Tinubu stressed the importance of unity and cooperation among all stakeholders, emphasizing the transition from political activities to effective governance.
“As we collectively strive to build our nation, the era of politics must give way to governance. We are part of the same family, residing under one roof but in different chambers. Let us foster cooperation and goodwill among ourselves,” remarked the President.
Reflecting on the significance of Ramadan and the Lenten season, President Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to utilize this period for introspection, prayer, and acts of kindness towards others.
Despite acknowledging the nation’s challenges, President Tinubu expressed optimism for the future, citing progress in addressing prevailing issues through ongoing government initiatives.
“I am pleased to see the challenges gradually receding. The future appears brighter as we navigate through. It is crucial for us to communicate, stand united, and share in each other’s joys,” added the President.
On the payment of wage award to workers, the governor promised that the states would do the right thing.
Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commended the federal government for its distribution of 42,000 tons of grains, underscoring the importance of synergy between national and state governments in tackling common issues.
Governor AbdulRazaq also urged fellow governors to engage in farming activities ahead of the wet season, emphasizing the need to understand and support local farmers for a successful harvest.
