    Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating violent crime, declaring that anyone involved in criminal acts would face the full weight of the law.

    Mohammed gave the assurance on Tuesday during a condolence visit to the family of the late Rilwanu Dauda, who reportedly died after being stabbed during an altercation involving a neighbour’s son in Bauchi metropolis.

    The governor described the incident as tragic and heartbreaking, extending his condolences to the bereaved family over the loss of their loved one.

    He assured the family that the state government would ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and that justice would be served without fear or favour.

    Mohammed strongly condemned the killing, stressing that no individual had the right to take the law into their own hands.

    He said anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law through the appropriate legal process.

    The governor reiterated that his administration remained committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state through strengthened security measures and effective law enforcement.

    He noted that while government efforts were focused on tackling banditry and other security threats affecting some rural communities, equal attention was being given to criminal activities within Bauchi metropolis and other urban centres.

    According to him, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents across both rural and urban areas remains a top priority of his administration.

    Mohammed also appealed to residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, urging them to resolve disputes through lawful means instead of resorting to violence.

    He called on members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible information that would aid ongoing investigations and strengthen efforts to prevent crime.

    The governor offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength and patience to bear the loss.

    The Bauchi State Government has approved a new remuneration structure for traditional rulers, increasing their earnings by more than 300 per cent and formally integrating their offices into the state civil service framework.

    The decision was announced after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Bauchi.

    Chief Economic Adviser, Yahuza Adamu Ningi, who represented the Head of Civil Service, Mohammed Sani Umar, said the move was aimed at strengthening traditional institutions and improving governance across the state.

    According to him, traditional rulers had for years operated without a standardised salary structure, relying mainly on honorariums paid through local government councils.

    “This government put them in a structure where everything, from the hamlet up to the emirate, is taken care of by the state government,” he said.

    Ningi explained that the new arrangement places the remuneration of traditional rulers under the state civil service rules and guidelines.

    He disclosed that the government had also directed proper enumeration of all traditional institutions across the state, noting that several rulers had already benefited from government support, including provision of official vehicles and housing.

    Under the new structure, traditional rulers would be categorised into first-class, second-class and third-class emirs, as well as district heads, with each category assigned specific remuneration packages.

    Although exact figures were not disclosed, Ningi said the increase was “far more than 300 per cent” of what many rulers previously earned.

    He noted that some traditional rulers had earlier received little or no remuneration before the reforms.

    The pay review follows the creation of new emirates, district heads and village head structures by the state government as part of efforts to preserve cultural heritage and improve administrative coverage.

    Ningi said the reforms were designed to strengthen traditional institutions for effective governance, cover previously ungoverned areas and preserve the historical identity of communities across the state.

    Negotiations between Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have collapsed, with indications that the governor may now explore other political alliances ahead of future elections.

    This was disclosed on Saturday by the chairman of the Turaki-led PDP faction in Bauchi State, Samaila Adamu Burga, while briefing journalists in Bauchi.

    Burga said discussions with the APC, which were facilitated through political intermediaries, failed after both sides could not agree on key conditions for a possible defection or realignment.

    According to him, the APC was unwilling to accept a proposed 60/40 power-sharing arrangement that would have allowed the governor’s structure significant control within the party in Bauchi State.

    “The APC had shown that it is not ready to accommodate our party structure and government,” Burga said.

    He explained that the talks were initiated through the National Chairman of the faction and involved engagements with key political actors, including visits to Governor Bala Mohammed aimed at persuading him to join the APC.

    However, he said the negotiations broke down after the APC rejected the terms put forward.

    “This is how it has been done in other places where governors defected to APC. They rejected this formula and we have closed that discussion,” he added.

    Burga noted that the discussions were concluded after extensive consultations with PDP stakeholders, adding that it had become clear the conditions for the political realignment were not acceptable to the APC leadership.

    “In light of this, we want to announce that the discussions have not yielded a conclusive outcome and are hereby formally discontinued,” he said.

    He further stated that while the APC talks had ended, consultations were ongoing with other political interests, as the governor and his supporters weigh their next political move.

    “All doors are open for discussion except the APC. We are not specific on where we want to go but definitely we are going somewhere where our people would have comfort and contest elections,” Burga said.

    He added that the final decision would be taken after further consultations with stakeholders across the state.

    Political observers say the collapse of the talks may reshape alignments in Bauchi State ahead of future elections, as parties position themselves for potential defections and coalition-building.

    The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has terminated the appointment of a clerical assistant over alleged misconduct linked to a road accident that claimed the lives of two journalists.

    The commission said the dismissal of Aminu Abdullahi followed findings that he engaged in reckless driving, which resulted in the fatal crash that also left several journalists injured.

    The accident reportedly occurred along the Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road shortly after a project handover ceremony attended by officials of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

    According to reports, the convoy of journalists was heading to inaugurate the Bara Bridge linking Bauchi State and Gombe State when the accident occurred minutes after the earlier ceremony.

    Two cameramen—Kani Ben of Channels Television and Kabiru Ahmed Ilelah of Bauchi State Television Authority—were reported to have died from injuries sustained in the crash.

    The decision to terminate Abdullahi’s appointment was reached during the commission’s 13th plenary session held at its conference hall.

    The commission stated that Abdullahi, a Grade Level 03 clerical assistant with the Ministry of Higher Education, was found negligent while performing an assigned duty of driving, contrary to Rules 0312 and 0327 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations.

    It noted that he had been directed under “Any Other Duty” to convey journalists covering the commissioning of projects in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

    The commission added that the termination followed recommendations from the Ministry of Higher Education and resolutions of the State Executive Council on the disciplinary matter.

    It also queried the management of the ministry to explain why a clerical assistant was assigned driving responsibilities meant for trained drivers.

    The Bauchi State Government has distributed 186 vehicles to newly created emirates, chiefdoms and district heads as part of efforts to strengthen traditional institutions and deepen grassroots governance.

    Governor Bala Mohammed presided over the distribution ceremony on Monday, describing the gesture as more than a routine exercise but a strategic step to enhance leadership at the community level.

    “The traditional rulers remain the custodians of our values, the link between government and the grassroots, and the voices of the people. Their presence inspires order, while their wisdom sustains peace,” Mohammed said.

    He explained that the vehicles distributed included 14 GMC vehicles, 14 Toyota Hilux trucks, 14 buses and 144 Toyota Camry cars allocated to district heads, noting that the vehicles were practical tools intended to improve mobility and service delivery.

    “These vehicles are essential instruments to enable our traditional rulers to effectively engage their communities, mediate disputes, monitor development and collaborate with security agencies,” he added.

    The governor also announced that construction of new palaces for the newly established emirates and chiefdoms had commenced, with a commitment to complete the projects before the end of his tenure.

    Mohammed further disclosed that the government was reviewing the remuneration and welfare packages of traditional rulers, noting that existing provisions no longer reflected the scope of their responsibilities.

    On finances, he said the government had ensured implementation of statutory allocations of between four and six per cent from local governments to emirates, while warning that the funds must be managed with accountability.

    “These resources are public funds entrusted to the institutions, not for personal use. Financial autonomy must go hand-in-hand with accountability,” he said.

    The governor urged traditional rulers to remain within their domains to provide effective leadership and cautioned them against engaging in partisan politics.

    In October 2025, Mohammed signed a bill creating 13 new emirates, one chiefdom and hundreds of district head positions across the state, a move aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and strengthening community-level administration.

    Speaking at the event, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, said the initiative reflected the state’s commitment to inclusive grassroots governance, noting that the Assembly had passed the enabling legislation for the new structures.

    Also speaking, the Emir of Bauchi and Chairman of the State Council of Emirs welcomed the development, describing it as a milestone for traditional institutions and urging newly appointed emirs and district heads to uphold the values of the institution while promoting peace and development.

    According to him, the railway infrastructure plays a significant role in facilitating movement of goods and people, especially in agrarian communities.

    Mohammed also called for greater transparency and stronger collaboration between federal and state authorities, stressing that decisions affecting critical infrastructure should involve stakeholders and consider the impact on local communities and livelihoods.

    A caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has rejected an alleged plan by the party’s national leadership to admit Governor Bala Mohammed into the party.

    Speaking after a meeting held in Abuja, the caucus chairman and senator representing Bauchi North, Sama’ila Dahuwa, said the group unanimously rejected the proposed admission of the governor.

    “The caucus, after exhaustive deliberations, unequivocally rejects the move,” Dahuwa said.

    He stated that the caucus was concerned over past criticisms allegedly made by Mohammed against the administration of President Bola Tinubu, noting that such remarks were perceived to have created divisions within the party.

    According to the caucus, the governor had not publicly retracted his statements nor made formal reconciliation efforts with the party leadership and members.

    The group maintained that admitting Mohammed into the APC at this time could be detrimental to the party’s cohesion, credibility, and electoral strength in Bauchi State.

    It further criticised what it described as the failure to consult critical stakeholders within the Bauchi APC before considering the governor’s possible admission, describing the alleged omission as inconsistent with internal democracy and inclusiveness.

    The caucus said its position would be formally communicated to the party’s national leadership, with a call for strict adherence to due process and established party structures.

    Reports indicate that ahead of an anticipated defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), both the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the APC have reportedly shown interest in welcoming Mohammed into their parties.

    Speaking during the meeting, Mohammed disclosed that reconciliation efforts within the PDP at the national level had yet to produce tangible results, prompting fresh considerations about the future political direction of his political bloc.

    He revealed that strategic committees had been constituted in Abuja and Bauchi to assess available political options, including possible alignment with alternative platforms.

    According to the governor, remaining in a political space where his group feels sidelined is no longer sustainable, hence the need for urgent repositioning within a viable opposition structure.

    While describing the ADC as a “strong and attractive option,” Mohammed said consultations were still ongoing and assured that any eventual decision would be guided by stakeholder engagement and careful deliberation.

    Earlier, Lawal said the ADC delegation was mandated by the party’s national leadership to formally engage Mohammed and explore the possibility of his joining the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

    He commended the governor’s political influence, noting that his defection could strengthen the ADC’s national outlook.

    Lawal also stressed the need for opposition unity, warning that fragmentation among political actors could undermine democratic stability and national progress.

    Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has called on residents of Alkaleri Local Government Area affected by bandit attacks to return to their communities and defend themselves, assuring them of government support with weapons and training.

    Mohammed made the call while addressing displaced residents in Duguri community, urging them to remain courageous in the face of the security challenges.

    He said the state government would collaborate with security agencies to provide necessary support to enable residents protect their communities.

    “All you need from the government is support to fight these bandits. We must provide you with the desired weapons to protect yourselves.

    “We will also direct security personnel to give you the necessary training to fight the bandits. But you have to stay in your communities and protect yourselves. No one will fight this war for you,” he said.

    The governor commended residents of Kafin-Duguri community for their recent resistance against bandits, where locals reportedly killed more than 20 attackers.

    He, however, noted that four residents also lost their lives during the confrontation.

    “You need to face these bandits squarely. You are brave people and I’m sure you can fight this war.

    “We will support you to win the fight by the grace of God,” Mohammed added.

    The governor attributed the attacks in parts of Bauchi and neighbouring Gombe State to the activities of bandits seeking to exploit untapped oil resources in the area.

    He explained that the state government had banned illegal mining activities to curb kidnapping and the forced recruitment of residents by criminal groups.

    Mohammed stressed that residents must remain committed to defending their communities, insisting that they had no better place to call home.

    “We will not go anywhere; we will rather stay and die in our communities. Those who were killed died as martyrs,” he said.

    He assured the affected communities of continued government support in tackling insecurity in the area.

    Bala grants pardon to 73 inmates, releases N3.8m for fines

    Gov. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has granted state pardon to 73 inmates in correctional centres across the state, exercising his constitutional powers under Section 212 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

    Mohammed announced the decision during a ceremony marking the release of the inmates, noting that the prerogative of mercy is a constitutional responsibility rooted in compassion, justice and fairness, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

    He said the decision followed careful consideration and recommendations by the State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy.

    The governor also approved the sum of N100,000 for each of the beneficiaries to support their reintegration into society after regaining freedom.

    In his remarks, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Hassan Elyakub, disclosed that the governor also released N3.8 million to offset fines and compensation imposed on some inmates whose sentences included monetary penalties.

    Elyakub urged the judiciary to consider non-custodial sentencing options such as community service, particularly for minor offences, to reduce congestion in correctional facilities.

    Also speaking, the Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Bauchi State, Tade Monday, commended the governor for the gesture.

    Religious leaders present at the event also lauded the decision and advised the freed inmates to remain law-abiding and contribute positively to society.

    Mohammed, who paid a condolence visit to the victims, said he was deeply touched by their plight and came to personally sympathise with them as well as reassure them of government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in their communities.

    The governor commended the people of Kashere for accommodating the displaced persons during the difficult period, describing their gesture as a demonstration of unity and compassion.

    He said security agencies were working tirelessly to contain the crisis and prevent further attacks in the affected areas.

    According to him, immediate intervention would be provided through the distribution of food items and other essential relief materials to ease the hardship faced by the victims.

    “We are committed to restoring normalcy and ensuring that our people can return to their homes safely,” he said.

    Mohammed also proceeded to Futuk where he visited the District Head, Ahmad Sani Adamu, at his palace to condole with the traditional institution and the wider community over the incident.

    He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to strengthen security architecture across vulnerable communities and work closely with security agencies to prevent a recurrence.

    The visit comes amid efforts by authorities to stabilise affected communities and provide humanitarian support to displaced residents.

    Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has sought the intervention of President Bola Tinubu following a deadly bandit attack that claimed four lives in Kafin Duguri community of Alkaleri Local Government Area.

    Mohammed made the appeal during a visit to Gwana community in Alkaleri LGA to commiserate with residents over the incident.

    The governor described the attack as painful and unfortunate, noting that it occurred in his home area of Duguri.

    He said he had briefed the President in Abuja on the security situation and conveyed Tinubu’s condolences to the affected families.

    According to him, the President assured of Federal Government intervention to strengthen security and forestall further attacks in the area.

    Mohammed noted that Bauchi State had made significant progress in tackling banditry in parts of the state, including Toro, Ningi, Ganjuwa and Jama’are local government areas.

    He, however, described the renewed attacks around Duguri as worrisome and requiring urgent attention.

    The governor commended local vigilantes and residents for confronting the attackers, said to be over 100 armed bandits on motorcycles, and forcing them to retreat.

    He assured the community that his administration would continue to collaborate with federal security agencies and traditional institutions to reinforce security in vulnerable areas.

    Mohammed added that requests for additional security personnel and operational equipment had been forwarded to the appropriate authorities.

    Earlier, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani Aliyu Omolori, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.

    He emphasised that community cooperation was critical to addressing insecurity.

    Also speaking, the Village Head of Kafin Duguri said the attackers, believed to have emerged from the Dajin Madam axis, stormed the community in large numbers and killed four men.

    The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Friday supervised the distribution of 40 newly procured tractors and other heavy-duty equipment under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) programme.

    The ACReSAL initiative is supported by the World Bank and is aimed at promoting agricultural modernization, environmental protection and improved livelihoods in rural communities.

    Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Mohammed described the programme as critical to addressing environmental and climate-related challenges confronting the state, including changing weather patterns, land degradation, prolonged dry seasons and flooding.

    He said the introduction of modern agricultural machinery would reduce the burden on farmers and relevant government agencies, while accelerating the adoption of mechanized farming and large-scale land restoration efforts across Bauchi.

    According to the governor, his administration remains committed to working closely with credible global partners and development programmes to improve living conditions and expand economic opportunities for citizens.

    Earlier, the State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Ibrahim Kabir, said the equipment was procured to enhance effective implementation of the project across the state.

    Kabir explained that the machinery would boost productivity, promote environmentally sustainable farming practices and mitigate the adverse effects of climate-related challenges.

    He commended the governor for his leadership and sustained support for the programme, assuring that the equipment would be properly maintained to guarantee long-term benefits and measurable impact for communities statewide.

    Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has sacked the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Galadima.

    Civil servants who exited the Bauchi State Civil Service from March 2013 are set to receive their long-awaited gratuities, following the approval by the state government to clear outstanding payments spanning 13 years.

    The Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission announced that the distribution of bank cheques to eligible retirees will commence on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, by 11:00 a.m. at the Commission’s headquarters in Bauchi.

    The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, confirmed the development while briefing journalists on Tuesday, saying all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure a smooth and transparent disbursement process under the state’s contributory pension scheme.

    Inuwa advised affected retirees to visit the Commission’s office, located near the Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, with the required documents to facilitate the collection of their cheques.

    He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bauchi State Government to the welfare of pensioners, noting that the payment exercise was part of deliberate efforts to clear long-standing liabilities and restore confidence in the administration of retirement benefits in the state.

    According to him, the initiative underscores the government’s resolve to address the challenges faced by retirees and ensure that their entitlements are paid without further delay.

    The commencement of the gratuity payments is expected to bring significant relief to affected retirees and their families, many of whom have waited over a decade for the settlement of their benefits.

    Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Wednesday signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total expenditure of over ₦877 billion for the 2026 fiscal year.

    The assent took place at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Bauchi, in the presence of the leadership and members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly.

    Speaking after signing the bill, Mohammed said the assent marked an important constitutional milestone that would allow for the full implementation of the 2026 Budget beginning from Jan. 1, 2026.

    He explained that the budget proposal, initially estimated at ₦878.15 billion and presented to the House of Assembly on Nov. 27, 2025, was reviewed and reduced by about ₦1.1 billion, without affecting allocations for capital projects.

    The governor commended the lawmakers for what he described as a thorough, objective and non-partisan consideration of the budget, noting the strong collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature, including constructive input from opposition members.

    Mohammed said the 2026 Budget, tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability,” builds on six years of reforms and development initiatives, adding that the 2025 Budget recorded about 79 per cent performance.

    According to him, priority areas in the 2026 fiscal plan include infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and social services.

    Describing the document as the last full-cycle budget of his administration, the governor directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure effective, transparent and timely execution of approved projects and programmes.

    In his remarks, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, said the budget was the product of an inclusive and transparent process, which involved stakeholder engagements and detailed budget defence sessions by MDAs.

    He assured the executive of the legislature’s continued support in ensuring proper implementation of the budget for the benefit of the people of Bauchi State.

    Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has ordered the immediate renovation of Tafare Primary School and the prompt restoration of electricity supply to Tafare community in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

    The governor gave the directive on Tuesday during an unscheduled stop in the community while en route to Alkaleri as part of his end-of-year holiday visit to his hometown.

    Residents of Tafare had earlier halted the governor’s convoy to draw his attention to the prolonged absence of electricity and the dilapidated condition of Tafare Primary School, the only primary school serving the community.

    Responding to the appeal, Governor Mohammed visited the school to assess the situation firsthand and expressed concern over the state of the facilities and the hardship faced by residents due to the lack of power supply.

    Following the inspection, the governor directed the relevant ministry to immediately commence renovation works at the school to ensure a conducive learning environment for pupils.

    He also ordered appropriate authorities to urgently restore electricity to the community, assuring residents that his administration remains committed to improving access to education and basic infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

    Governor Mohammed reiterated his administration’s resolve to respond promptly to the needs of the people and to ensure that no community is left behind in the state’s development drive.

    The Bauchi State Government has dismissed as false and misleading a statement credited to the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the state, alleging that Governor Bala Mohammed is not welcome to join the party.

    In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, described the claim as a “mischievous and baseless” allegation that exists only in the imagination of its author.

    Gidado said Governor Mohammed has neither contemplated leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor made any overtures toward defecting to the PRP or any other political party.

    “At no time has Governor Bala Mohammed considered leaving the PDP, let alone initiating discussions or moves to join the PRP in Bauchi State,” the statement said.

    According to him, Governor Mohammed has instead remained at the forefront of efforts to stabilise and strengthen the PDP amid what he described as contrived crises orchestrated by anti-democratic forces seeking to impose a one-party system in the country.

    The media aide noted that the governor’s leadership credentials were well established, pointing to his electoral victories over the PRP in two highly contested elections as evidence of public confidence in his administration.

    He added that Bauchi State had, under Mohammed’s leadership, emerged as a regional force, driven by policies focused on inclusive governance, empowerment, infrastructure development, rural transformation, urban renewal and tourism.

    Gidado also defended the state government’s reforms, including the restructuring of traditional institutions and devolution of powers, describing them as bold steps aimed at empowerment and emancipation of the people.

    “The inability of the PRP to appreciate the benefits of these reforms only exposes a party that is progressive in name but retrogressive in character,” he said.

    The statement cautioned residents of the state against what it described as “habitual critics” whose approach to governance, it said, was rooted in constant opposition rather than constructive engagement.

    It further stressed that despite challenges and political pressures, nothing would distract Governor Mohammed from his commitment to the development of Bauchi State.

    Gidado, however, noted that the governor, like every citizen, retains the constitutional right to freely determine his political future, adding that any such decision, if it ever arose, would not be dictated by “falsehood, malice or political opportunism.”

    The Bauchi State Government has inaugurated a three-member committee to oversee the implementation of the 11-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier signed with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) chapter.

    The MoU, which brought an end to the union’s recent strike, is expected to guide the committee’s work as it monitors commitments made by both parties.

    While inaugurating the panel on Saturday, the Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Dr. Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango, said the committee is made up of the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Yakubu Jibrin Abdullahi, and representatives from the Ministry of Justice and ASUU-SAZU.

    Dr. Kango urged the committee to operate strictly within its mandate and ensure objective reporting throughout its assignment.
    She stated:

    > “In view of the signing of an 11-point MoU between the State Government and ASUU-SAZU chapter, which ended the strike action by the union, the government decided to inaugurate a tripartite committee on its implementation. I want to urge the committee to do the right things, give regular feedback, and work strictly within the agreed framework for the progress of the institution and the state at large.”



    Speaking on behalf of the committee members, the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Yakubu Jibrin Abdullahi, assured that the panel would work in synergy with all relevant stakeholders. He pledged transparent updates as the committee pursues its mandate.

    Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Isa Muhammad Tahir, noted that the committee ought to have been set up earlier but expressed confidence in the members’ ability to deliver on their responsibilities and fast-track the implementation of the agreements.

    The tripartite committee, which comprises three members, was established to ensure coordination, consideration, and execution of the agreed terms. However, the government did not specify a deadline for the submission of its report.

    Governor Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering global partnerships that promote development, boost industrial activities, and create sustainable employment for the state’s growing population.     Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has launched twelve new rural road projects under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), aimed at boosting agricultural production, improving inter-community mobility, and stimulating socio-economic development across the state.

    Governor Mohammed made the announcement while inspecting the projects on Monday in Gamawa.

    The newly commissioned roads include the 24km Lanzai/Papa road, 14.45km Misau–Beti/Maladumba corridor, 28km Gamawa–Sakwa route, 14.75km Dargazu/Gambaki–Chinade/Gangai link, as well as the 6.68km Yana–Faggo and 6.6km Giade–Tagwaye roads. He emphasized that the interventions are expected to open up new opportunities for farmers, traders, and rural residents who rely on these roads for their daily activities.

    Speaking during the launch, the Governor commended the Federal Government, the World Bank, and other partners for their support, urging residents to cooperate with contractors, safeguard construction sites, and maintain the roads once completed.

    Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Farouk Mustapha, said the state government has already completed 134 kilometres of rural roads, while National Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Aminu Bodinga Mohammed, revealed that the next phase of 203 kilometres would further improve access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. He added that Bauchi State has provided over ₦6 billion in counterpart funding for the programme.

    The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the state following heightened security concerns.

    The directive, announced on Monday, affects all categories of schools, including those owned by the federal government, the state, and private proprietors.

    In a public announcement signed by Jalaludeen Usman, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, the government said the decision was taken after extensive consultations and a careful review of the security situation affecting students and school communities.

    According to the statement, the move—though difficult—became necessary to safeguard the lives of students, teachers, and other stakeholders.

    “The protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear,” the statement read.

    The government appealed to parents, guardians, and school operators to remain calm and cooperative as security agencies work to address the threats and restore normalcy.

    Citizens were also urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, noting that timely information from the public is critical to maintaining safety.

    The state government assured that further updates will be provided as the situation develops and that schools will reopen once it is deemed safe.

    The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has suspended four senior officials over allegations of gross misconduct, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen discipline and accountability within the state’s civil service.

    This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Saleh Umar, following a plenary session held in Bauchi.

    According to the statement, the affected officers — all attached to the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences Technology, Ningi — include:
    • Garba Hussaini, Director, Education and former Provost
    • Haruna Umar, Deputy Director, Administration and Human Resources
    • Umar Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer (Account)/Bursar
    • Mohammed Usman, Chief Clerical Officer/Cashier

    Umar said the officers were placed on 50 per cent salary effective October 28, 2025, pending the conclusion of a full investigation into the allegations against them.

    “The commission’s decision was taken to allow further investigation into the allegations laid against the officers,” he explained.

    He noted that the officials were accused of violating Bauchi State Public Service Regulations 0327 (x) and (xxii) and were interdicted under Rules 0329 (i), (ii), and (iii) to ensure an unhindered investigation process.

    In a related development, Umar announced that the Commission had approved the promotion of 21 officers across various cadres, including Deputy Chief Librarian, Assistant Chief Librarian, Principal Librarian, and other administrative positions on grade levels 10 to 15.

    The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to upholding due process, integrity, and fairness in the civil service. He expressed concern over the attitude of some civil servants who disregard established rules, warning that disciplinary breaches would not be overlooked.

    Muhammad urged civil servants to familiarise themselves with public service guidelines to avoid sanctions.

    The development comes two months after the Commission dismissed two senior officials for forgery, an offence that contravenes Public Service Rule 0327 (ii, iii, and vi) relating to falsification of official documents.

    The Commission said the disciplinary actions reflect its resolve to maintain professionalism and accountability within the state workforce.

    Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has visited the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) in Lomé, Togo, to strengthen partnerships aimed at accelerating infrastructural and economic development in the state.

    The governor, who led a high-level delegation, said the visit was part of efforts to secure international financing for key projects across Bauchi. His delegation included the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman; Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo; Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Yakubu Adamu; Chief Economic Adviser, Hon. Mansur Manu Soro; and Alhaji Yahuza Adamu, among others.

    They were received by the President of EBID, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, alongside members of the bank’s executive management.

    The visit follows Bauchi State’s formal application to EBID for support to enhance infrastructure, renewable energy and agricultural development. Under the arrangement, the state is expected to access $82 million soon for major road infrastructure, while another $68 million for renewable energy and smart agriculture will be released in a subsequent phase. The total $150 million funding forms part of the Federal Government’s external borrowing plan approved for Bauchi under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    Governor Mohammed said Bauchi serves as a gateway to the North-East with vast arable land, mineral deposits and a friendly environment for investment. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent resource management, which he said have earned the state national recognition.

    Responding, EBID President Dr. Donkor praised the governor’s foresight and leadership, noting that the bank had followed his achievements even before he assumed office. He assured the delegation of EBID’s readiness to partner with Bauchi State in implementing projects that support regional growth and development.
