Troops of 6 Brigade Arrest Five Suspected Criminals in Taraba Operation

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested five suspected criminals following a coordinated response to a distress call over an attack on communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, which took place on June 4, 2026, involved personnel deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Karim Lamido.

According to a statement issued by the Army, troops swiftly mobilised after receiving reports of an ongoing attack and moved to the affected area, where they came under fire from unidentified armed men.

The soldiers reportedly responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to flee in different directions before launching a pursuit operation that led to the arrest of five suspects.

Items recovered from the suspects included two motorcycles, daggers, machetes, assorted charms, gunpowder, and five mobile phones.

The Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage, and swift response during the operation.

He reiterated the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, urging personnel to remain vigilant and intensify efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action within their area of responsibility.

The Commander also assured residents of Taraba State of the Brigade’s continued commitment to pursuing criminals and sustaining pressure until lasting peace is restored across the state.
