The Headquarters, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (Operation HADIN KAI), says its troops have rescued abducted civilians, neutralised terrorists and arrested logistics suppliers in continued operations across the North East.
The Media Information Officer, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, said the operations were conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY V and other ongoing stabilisation missions.
He said troops operating around Amuda general area rescued two abductees — Mrs Maryam Muhammad (20) and her infant son, Bello Muhammad (1 year, 4 months) — who were abducted during an attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026.
According to him, preliminary reports showed the victims were held in a terrorist enclave within the Mandara Mountains before escaping following sustained military pressure on insurgent hideouts. They were later reunited with their families after medical evaluation.
In separate operations in Wulgo, Gumsari and Hausari areas, troops in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force uncovered terrorist facilities, ammunition and other logistics items, and neutralised one insurgent without own casualties.
Uba said sustained pressure had also forced some family members of terrorists to flee enclaves and surrender to troops in different locations. He said two women and a child surrendered along the Gwoza axis after escaping insurgent camps, while another woman also surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion in the Mandara Mountains axis.
He added that all surrendered persons had been screened and handed over for profiling in line with procedures.
In intelligence-led operations across Borno and Yobe, troops arrested suspected logistics suppliers, including a man caught transporting 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit allegedly meant for insurgents, and another suspect linked to informant activities in Maiduguri.
The Command also confirmed the arrest of a soldier who deserted with his weapon and was later found involved in criminal activities, while additional arrests were made in Biu and Gubio axes involving suspected kidnappers and logistics suppliers.
Troops further recovered arms and ammunition during clearance operations in Damboa axis and handed over 13 suspects to relevant authorities for investigation and prosecution.
The Theatre Command said the operations had significantly disrupted terrorist logistics networks and reduced their operational capacity, particularly around the Mandara Mountains and border communities.
It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations, rescuing abducted persons and restoring lasting peace in the region.
