The Borno State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bello Ayuba, has urged party leaders and executives to manage disagreements internally as the party begins the sale of nomination forms ahead of its primaries for the 2026 elections.
Ayuba made the appeal on Wednesday in Maiduguri during a meeting with the State Executive Committee and Local Government party executives, including chairmen, secretaries, women and youth leaders.
He emphasised that unity within the party must be protected at all times, warning against public displays of internal disagreements.
“From the State EXCO to the ward EXCO, we are one family,” Ayuba said. “When we disagree, we do it in this room, not on radio, not on WhatsApp, not on Facebook, not on TikTok, not on Twitter and not at the market square. When we step out, we step out with one voice, one message, and one purpose.”
The chairman also confirmed the commencement of sales of nomination forms, saying the process is open to all interested aspirants without restriction.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there will be no restrictions whatsoever on the sales of forms to all aspirants,” he stated. “Every member of the party who wishes to test his or her popularity is free to obtain the form.”
He noted that the party’s preferred method of selecting candidates remains consensus in line with its internal guidelines, but added that competitive primaries would be conducted where necessary.
“Where consensus is not possible, we will go for free, fair and transparent primaries,” Ayuba said, urging aspirants to accept outcomes in good faith.
“In APC, there are no losers in our primaries, only party men and women who will line up behind the flag bearer the day after,” he added.
Party officials present at the meeting included the Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Garba Bukar Mulima, State Secretary Barr. Mustapha Loskuri, and other members of the State Executive Committee.
