5th Anniversary: Gombe Gov Flags Off Tumfure Road Project, Others

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has flagged off the Tumfure Road Project as part of activities to commemorate his fifth year anniversary in office. The 11-kilometer road network is the first of its kind in the area’s history since the creation of Gombe State in 1996.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who was the special guest of honor at the event, praised Governor Inuwa’s unprecedented development projects and leadership style, which transformed Gombe into a model within a short time.

Governor Inuwa also inspected the ongoing construction of the access road network within the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the completed road network in Government Science Secondary School Gombe, and the 22-kilometer gully erosion control project at FCE(T).

In addition, the Governor and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development launched the construction of 250 units of Renewed Hope houses in Gombe, an initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration aimed at bridging the housing gap and making home ownership accessible to average Nigerians.

Governor Inuwa expressed his delight over the choice of Gombe State as one of the two states selected for the pilot program in the Northeast sub-region and assured his government’s continued support for the Renewed Hope initiatives.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development explained that the Renewed Hope houses are an initiative of the Federal Government targeted at addressing housing deficits in Nigeria and providing affordable houses to citizens. He disclosed that the government aims to deliver 50,000 housing units across Nigeria, starting with two states from each geopolitical zone.

The Governor led the visiting Ministers to inspect the ongoing construction of 550 housing units at the Shongo Garden Layout, a project jointly developed by the Gombe State Government and the Family Homes Fund, which reflects his administration’s commitment to providing low-income earners with opportunities to own homes in the state.
