    Adamawa Relaxes Lamurde Curfew as Peace Returns, Warns Against Fresh Violence

    The Adamawa State Government has relaxed the curfew imposed on Lamurde Local Government Area following an improvement in the security situation, while warning residents against any action capable of disrupting the restored peace.

    Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced that the relaxed curfew takes immediate effect and will now run daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice.

    The curfew was imposed after a prolonged crisis in the area to restore law and order.

    According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the decision followed a review of the security situation, which indicated a noticeable return of calm in Lamurde.

    Fintiri commended residents for cooperating with security agencies, saying their support had contributed significantly to the gradual restoration of peace.

    “This improvement reflects the value of the decisive measures taken by government to halt the violence and restore normalcy,” the governor said.

    Despite the relaxation, Fintiri cautioned that the government would not tolerate any renewed breach of the peace, urging residents to sustain the prevailing calm and avoid actions capable of reversing the progress made.

    He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Lamurde and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Adamawa.

    The governor also directed security agencies to maintain a strong presence in the area and continue enforcing law and order, while advising residents to remain law-abiding.

    Fintiri described Adamawa as a state known for peace, tolerance and unity, and appealed to community leaders, traditional institutions, youth and women groups, as well as other stakeholders, to embrace dialogue, uphold the rule of law and work collectively to preserve peace and stability across the state.

    Adamawa Expands Solar Power Access to Rural Communities

    The Adamawa State Government has intensified efforts to expand access to clean and reliable electricity by inspecting ongoing solar mini-grid projects in rural communities across the state.

    The inspection was carried out by officials of the Ministry of Works and Energy Development in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) as part of efforts to ensure the timely completion of the projects.

    The team, led by the Director of Transmission, Distribution and Rural Access Power, Engr. James Yohanna, included Engr. Kabir Bashir, Engr. Wamanya Elias Jalo and Engr. Boniface Bwalamari.

    The officials inspected project sites in Kuva Gaya, Kwakwaah, Ga’anda and Shuwa communities, as well as installations at Michika General Hospital and a Primary Health Care Clinic.

    According to the inspection team, major components of the projects, including standard electrical wiring, metering systems and balance-of-system installations, have been substantially completed.

    The engineers expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that implementation is progressing in line with approved technical specifications and quality standards.

    They explained that the solar mini-grid initiative is designed to provide clean, sustainable and reliable electricity to underserved rural communities, improving power supply to homes, healthcare facilities, schools, small businesses and other public institutions.

    Residents of the benefiting communities commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Rural Electrification Agency for the intervention, describing the projects as a major boost to economic activities and improved living standards in rural areas.

    They expressed optimism that the projects would stimulate local businesses, improve healthcare delivery and enhance educational services through reliable electricity supply.

    The state government said the inspection underscores its commitment, in partnership with the REA and other development partners, to delivering quality infrastructure that will provide sustainable electricity access and support socio-economic development across Adamawa State.

    Fintiri Flags Off Numan Library Rebuilding, Warns Against Substandard Work

    Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has flagged off the rebuilding of the Numan Zonal Library, warning contractors against delays and substandard execution of the project.

    Fintiri said the state government would not tolerate inferior work or unnecessary delays in the delivery of public projects.

    The governor, represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the library in Numan on Wednesday.

    He said the 150-capacity reading facility was expected to be completed within six months and must meet the required standards.

    “The project must be delivered on schedule and in line with specifications. Government will not condone delays or poor-quality work,” he said.

    Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all projects initiated across the state, noting that the government remained focused on fulfilling its promises to the people.

    According to him, reading culture remains critical to the development of any society, hence the decision to revive the library to support both traditional and modern learning as well as research activities.

    He urged relevant stakeholders to closely monitor the project to ensure strict adherence to approved specifications.

    The governor also highlighted his administration’s investments in the education sector, including the establishment of mega science and technical schools and model schools across the state.

    He called on residents of the host community to take advantage of such facilities to enhance learning and contribute to societal development.

    Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Aisha Umar, and the Chairman of the Adamawa State Library Board, Dr Akiweta Samaila, described education as a key indicator of national development.

    They expressed confidence that the rebuilt library would help revive the declining reading culture among young people and promote effective teaching, learning and research.

    Also speaking, a stakeholder, Mrs Irene Ahmadu, commended the deputy governor for her role in facilitating the project in Numan.

    Other speakers at the event praised the Fintiri administration for its efforts in transforming the education sector, saying the library project would further boost educational development and intellectual growth in the area.

    The Adamawa State Police Command says it has arrested 57 suspected members of Shilla gangs during a coordinated operation targeting criminal hideouts in Jimeta, Girei and Yola metropolis.

    The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, in Yola.

    According to the statement, the operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, to combat gangsterism, drug abuse, public nuisance and other criminal activities across the state.

    Nguroje said the operation was carried out by Divisional Police Officers under the supervision of their respective Area Commanders in identified criminal black spots within Jimeta and Yola metropolitan areas.

    He stated that the operation resulted in the arrest of 57 suspects for offences ranging from alleged involvement in Shilla-related activities to public nuisance, possession of dangerous weapons and prohibited substances.

    The police spokesman added that various dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances were recovered from the suspects during the raid.

    “The exhibits have been documented and will be tendered as evidence in court during prosecution,” he said.

    Nguroje said the suspects had been charged to court in accordance with the law, while profiling and further investigations were ongoing to determine their possible involvement in other criminal activities.

    He quoted the Commissioner of Police as commending officers who participated in the operation for their professionalism and commitment to duty.

    The CP reassured residents of the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal gangs and ensure lasting peace and security across the state.

    He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to assist the police in preventing and detecting crime.

    Adamawa Police Arrest Suspect Over Yola Kidnapping

    The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the kidnapping of three persons in Yola North Local Government Area of the state.

    The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Yola.

    Nguroje said the suspect, identified as Alhaji Adamu Yahaya of Hosere Jambutu in Yola North LGA, was arrested following investigations into the abduction incident reported to the police.

    According to him, one Samaila Musa of Hullere Gwalamba reported to the State Intelligence Department (SID) on June 16 that three of his sons were kidnapped on June 12 and taken to an unknown destination.

    The victims were identified as Adamu Samaila Sultan, 24, Bilal Abdurrahman, 8, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, 10.

    He said the complainant informed the police that the kidnappers later contacted the family and demanded ransom for the victims’ release.

    Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, immediately directed operatives to launch a discreet investigation and deploy intelligence and technical resources to track down those responsible.

    “The swift action of the command led to the arrest of one suspect linked to the kidnapping incident,” he said.

    He added that the suspect was currently assisting investigators with useful information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate.

    The police spokesperson said investigations were ongoing and assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

    He noted that further details on the case would be made available as investigations progress.

    Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has approved the recruitment of 50 tractor operators trained by the state government for deployment across the 21 local government areas of the state.

    The approval is part of the administration’s agricultural mechanisation programme aimed at improving efficiency, boosting food production and strengthening agricultural services at the grassroots.

    According to a statement issued by the state government, the newly recruited operators are among beneficiaries of a specialised training programme designed to equip young people with the technical skills required to operate and maintain modern agricultural machinery.

    The government said their engagement would ensure effective utilisation of the newly acquired tractors while creating employment opportunities for qualified youths.

    The governor further directed the payment of statutory entitlements to elected local government executives across the state.

    It added that the approvals reflected the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, institutional development, agricultural modernisation and effective grassroots governance.

    The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has stepped up efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Adamawa State with the construction of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Centre and a modern Accident and Emergency Unit at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital.

    The Adamawa State Coordinator of the North East Development Commission, Barrister Khalifa Mohammed Lawan, disclosed this while inspecting the ongoing projects at the hospital.

    Lawan said the Commission’s intervention was driven by the growing demand for advanced medical facilities and quality healthcare services by residents of Adamawa and neighbouring states.

    According to him, the MRI Centre project is designed to provide more than diagnostic services, as it also includes accommodation for doctors and nurses as well as a waiting area for patients’ relatives to ensure efficient healthcare delivery.

    He added that the facility would be supported by solar-powered lighting systems and standby generating plants to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply and enhance operational efficiency.

    Speaking on the Accident and Emergency Unit, Lawan noted that the hospital’s existing emergency facility had become overstretched due to the increasing number of patients requiring urgent medical attention.

    He explained that the Commission consequently embarked on the construction of a standard Accident and Emergency Unit equipped with modern facilities to meet contemporary healthcare needs and improve emergency response services.

    The NEDC coordinator urged the hospital management to ensure proper maintenance and protection of the facilities upon completion so they could continue to serve their intended purpose.

    Also speaking, the Site Engineer of Sahab Solid Construction and Services Limited, Engineer Zachariah Yanna Visa, said the projects had attained about 85 per cent completion.

    Visa stated that ongoing works include roofing, installation of roof trusses, tiling, rendering and other finishing components, expressing confidence that the projects would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

    Fintiri Revokes Illegal Market Land Allocations, Orders Immediate Reclamation

    Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has revoked what he described as the illegal allocation of portions of the Red Brick Market land along Numan Road, directing authorities to immediately reclaim the affected property.

    The governor, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, said the government discovered that parts of the state-owned market land had been allocated to traders and private individuals by unauthorized persons without statutory approval, due process, or remittance of proceeds to the state treasury.

    According to the statement, the allocations contravened the Land Use Act, the Adamawa State Urban Planning Development Authority Law, and established government procedures governing public land administration.

    Fintiri consequently directed the Adamawa State Urban Planning Development Authority to take immediate possession of the affected areas and reclaim all illegally allocated plots.

    “All illegal occupants are hereby ordered to vacate the property with immediate effect. Failure to comply will attract forceful eviction and prosecution for criminal trespass,” the governor said.

    The governor also warned government officials and civil servants against facilitating or participating in the unlawful allocation or sale of government land, stressing that anyone found culpable would face investigation, dismissal, and prosecution.

    “Public office is a trust, and this administration has zero tolerance for abuse of that trust,” he stated.

    Fintiri further cautioned residents and traders against purchasing, leasing, or taking possession of government land from individuals or groups not duly authorized by the Ministry of Lands and Survey and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

    He maintained that any transaction involving government land outside approved channels is invalid and warned prospective buyers that they risk losing both the land and their money, as the government would not compensate victims of fraudulent transactions.

    “Always verify allocations with the relevant ministries before making payments,” the governor advised.

    The governor said the action became necessary to protect public assets, promote proper urban planning, safeguard government revenue, and restore order within the state’s markets.

    The directive takes immediate effect, according to the statement.

    The Adamawa State Government has launched a 10-Year Strategic Development Plan (SSDP 2026–2035) aimed at accelerating economic growth, infrastructure development and social transformation across the state.

    Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, unveiled the roadmap during a ceremony at the Government House Conference Hall in Yola.

    Fintiri described the launch as a significant milestone in the state’s development journey, saying it marked a transition from short-term planning and annual budget cycles to a comprehensive long-term strategy.

    “I feel honoured today to fulfil a pivotal responsibility of my administration through the official launch of Adamawa State’s Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan. This marks our shift beyond short-term planning and annual budget cycles as we take a bold leap forward with a decade-long roadmap,” he said.

    The governor explained that the plan was developed through extensive consultations with stakeholders and rigorous technical planning, with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

    According to him, the document represents a shared vision between the government and the people of Adamawa State.

    “The 10-year roadmap is more than a policy document; it is a sacred pledge to our people. It is not merely a government plan, but a People’s Plan — a shared vision and social contract between government and the governed,” he said.

    Fintiri said the strategic plan would help reposition Adamawa as a key player in Nigeria’s development landscape while providing a framework for sustainable growth and improved service delivery.

    Speaking on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Permanent Secretary for Political Matters, Ibrahim Buba, said the SSDP would serve as the state’s principal policy guide for planning, budgeting, project implementation and performance monitoring.

    He noted that the roadmap focuses on economic diversification, social inclusion, infrastructural development and sustainable growth over the next decade.

    Buba called on development partners, civil society organisations, international agencies and citizens to support the implementation of the plan.

    “Let us embark on this decade of transformation with focus and determination toward realising the future we all deserve — a future of opportunity, innovation and shared progress,” he said.

    Also speaking, Executive Chairperson of the Adamawa State Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, commended the state government’s commitment to long-term development planning.

    She said the strategic plan was aligned with Nigeria’s National Development Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while addressing the specific developmental needs of Adamawa State.

    Paninga added that the successful preparation of the document was made possible through the administration’s support and collaborative engagement with stakeholders.

    Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed all political appointees in his administration who have defected to, or publicly declared allegiance to, other political parties to resign their appointments within 48 hours.

    The governor said failure to comply with the directive would attract immediate termination of appointment and forfeiture of all salaries, entitlements and benefits attached to their offices.

    Fintiri gave the directive in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.

    According to the governor, the measure is necessary to preserve loyalty, discipline and the integrity of public service within the administration.

    He noted that political office holders were appointed to support and implement the policies, programmes and political agenda of the government under which they serve.

    “Continued service by persons who have aligned with another party poses a clear risk of sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of policy implementation and party strategy,” the governor said.

    Fintiri therefore directed all affected appointees to submit their letters of resignation to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) within 48 hours.

    He also directed the Office of the SSG and the Office of the Head of Service to compile, verify and submit a comprehensive list of all affected political appointees for compliance monitoring.

    The governor warned that any appointee who failed to comply with the directive within the stipulated period would face immediate removal from office.

    “Failure to comply with this directive within the stipulated timeframe shall result in immediate termination of appointment, cessation of all salaries, entitlements and benefits, and further administrative action,” he stated.

    Fintiri stressed that public office is a position of trust that must be exercised in line with the vision, mandate and political direction of the administration.

    “This is a clear message that public office is held in trust and must align with the vision, agenda and mandate of the administration. Government cannot condone divided loyalty in the discharge of public trust,” he added.

    The directive takes immediate effect.

    The Adamawa State Government has taken another major step toward upgrading Specialist Hospital, Yola, into the Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital, following the second meeting of the Technical Committee overseeing the conversion process.

    The meeting reviewed progress made so far and outlined key actions required to actualise the proposed tertiary healthcare and medical training institution.

    Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Hon. Chubado Mohammed Jada, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the successful upgrade of the facility.

    Jada stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure that the proposed teaching hospital meets the standards required for medical education, research and quality healthcare service delivery.

    He noted that the project would strengthen healthcare services in the state while creating opportunities for the training of medical professionals and advancement of research.

    In a goodwill message, the Vice-Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Prof. Clement Augustine, commended the initiative and expressed the university’s readiness to provide the necessary academic and institutional support to ensure its success.

    The Registrar of the university, Dr. Aminu Alkali, presented the minutes of the previous meeting, which were reviewed, corrected and subsequently adopted by members.

    Presenting the report of the Legal Drafting Sub-Committee, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chairman of the sub-committee, Prof. Aliyu Jibrilla, outlined the proposed legal framework for the establishment of the teaching hospital.

    The presentation generated extensive discussions among committee members on the legal and administrative requirements needed to establish the institution.

    Following the deliberations, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice advised that copies of the report be circulated to all members for further review and input to ensure a comprehensive and legally sound framework.

    The committee also received the report of the Technical Sub-Committee, presented by Dr. Dauda Wadinga, which detailed a comprehensive roadmap for the conversion process, including implementation strategies, timelines and key requirements.

    In his observations, Augustine emphasised the need for a detailed assessment of existing facilities against the requirements of a standard teaching hospital.

    The committee subsequently resolved that the Technical Sub-Committee should undertake a comprehensive evaluation of all requirements for the establishment of the teaching hospital.

    The assessment is expected to cover available infrastructure, human resources, equipment and healthcare services, while identifying critical gaps in line with regulatory and academic standards.

    Members further directed the sub-committee to produce a well-structured and evidence-based report outlining its findings, recommendations and implementation roadmap for submission to Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for consideration and further directives.

    The meeting was adjourned to June 24 to enable members review submissions and continue deliberations toward achieving the committee’s objectives.

    The committee reiterated its commitment to delivering a functional and standard teaching hospital that would significantly enhance healthcare delivery, medical training and research in Adamawa State.

    Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has approved the appointment of Dr Sumayya Babangida Sabo as Programme Coordinator of the Adamawa Digital Academy, a key initiative under the state’s digital transformation agenda.

    The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.

    According to the statement, Sabo is an Information Systems professional, education administrator and programme manager with extensive experience in digital skills development, academic administration, innovation programmes and information technology management.

    The statement noted that she currently serves as Tutor and Information Technology Coordinator at the American University of Nigeria.

    It stated that as Programme Coordinator, Sabo would be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the academy’s programmes, student onboarding, stakeholder engagement and academic administration.

    The statement added that she would also oversee the implementation of strategic partnerships aimed at positioning the academy as a leading digital skills institution in Nigeria and across Africa.

    The meeting was convened to strengthen coordination and ensure a peaceful, credible and orderly electoral process across all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.

    Speaking at the session, the Chairman of ADSIEC, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, said the commission had concluded extensive preparations and remained committed to delivering a free, fair and transparent election.

    He said the commission had fixed Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the conduct of the polls and had already undertaken key preparatory activities, including screening of candidates in January, engagements with political parties, and procurement and production of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials.

    According to him, ballot papers, ballot boxes, result sheets and other essential materials had been produced and are already in the custody of the commission.

    Umar disclosed that distribution of electoral materials to the various local government areas would commence on Thursday to ensure timely deployment ahead of the election.

    He further revealed that 11 political parties would participate in the polls, including the APC, APP, APM, SDP, ADC, PDP, YPP, BOOT, ACCORD, NNPP and AP.

    He explained that while all 11 parties had fielded councillorship candidates, only four political parties presented both chairmanship and councillorship candidates across the state.

    The ADSIEC chairman emphasized the importance of security agencies in ensuring peaceful conduct of the election, noting that effective collaboration remained critical to maintaining law and order before, during and after the polls.

    He expressed optimism that the election would be peaceful, transparent and acceptable to all stakeholders.

    The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Adamawa State has held a solemn farewell for three corps members who lost their lives in a fatal motor vehicle accident along the Narehi axis of the Girei–Song Road in Adamawa State on June 3, 2026.

    The deceased—Jalilat Suleiman, Usman Shuaibu, and Abdullahi Dauda—were members of the 2026 Batch A Stream II corps who had recently completed their orientation course before the tragic incident occurred.

    According to reports, the corps members were travelling to retrieve their personal belongings and settle at their respective places of primary assignment when the accident occurred, cutting short what had begun as a promising service year.

    The burial ceremony took place at the Specialist Hospital Yola, where family members, NYSC officials, religious leaders, representatives of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, traditional leaders, colleagues, and sympathisers gathered to pay their last respects.

    Among those present were the District Head of Nasarawo Abba, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu; the Sarkin Sudan Adamawa; the Chief Imam of Nasarawo Abba Central Mosque; as well as corps members serving in the state and staff of institutions linked to the deceased.

    The atmosphere was marked by deep grief, with emotional scenes as parents, friends, and fellow corps members struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss of the young Nigerians whose futures had appeared full of promise.

    Speaking on behalf of the State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, NYSC officials expressed profound sorrow over the incident and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased. The scheme also assured the bereaved families of its support during the period of mourning.

    A particularly emotional moment came when staff of Nurul Yaqeen Academy in Mubi North, one of the institutions where some of the deceased had been posted, travelled to Yola to pay their final respects. They were joined by serving corps members, underscoring the bonds formed during their brief period of service.

    Condolence letters from NYSC management were presented to the families, reaffirming the scheme’s commitment to standing by them in their moment of grief.

    Following prayers, the remains were laid to rest, leaving mourners in quiet reflection on the fragility of life and the painful loss of young lives at the threshold of national service.

    The NYSC described the deceased as dedicated young Nigerians whose memory would remain within the corps community.

    Though their lives were cut short, colleagues said their impact and friendship would not be forgotten.

    According to a statement by the Command, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of suspected illicit substances, including Tramadol (100mg) and Diazepam tablets, as well as a knife and a pair of scissors.

    The police said the arrest forms part of sustained efforts to curb gangsterism and other criminal activities associated with Shilla groups within Yola and its environs.

    Zira said the new arrangement cancels the previous system that restricted beneficiaries to registration centres located within the local government areas indicated on their application forms.

    According to him, beneficiaries can now have their forms captured at any registration centre of their choice, regardless of the local government area earlier selected during the application process.

    He explained that the decision was taken to ease the registration process and reduce the challenges faced by applicants.

    The PAWECA boss said the policy change would help minimise travel expenses, reduce stress and eliminate delays experienced by beneficiaries seeking to complete their registration.

    “With the new arrangement, all forms will be processed without restriction, ensuring wider access to the programme for eligible beneficiaries,” he said.

    The video, which showed several pilgrims resting on the floor of a hotel lobby, sparked widespread reactions online, with claims that the pilgrims had been left stranded after arriving in the Holy City.

    However, officials familiar with the situation said the incident was caused by temporary logistical delays following the arrival of over 1,000 pilgrims from Madina after an exhausting eight-hour road journey.

    According to the officials, the pilgrims had already arrived at their designated hotels in Makkah and all rooms allocated to them were fully secured before their arrival.

    They explained that the delay occurred during the process of moving the large number of pilgrims into their rooms, as only two elevators were operational at the hotels at the time.

    The process involved verifying room allocations, distributing keys and transporting pilgrims to different floors in batches to maintain order and safety.

    Sources said many of the pilgrims, exhausted from the long trip, chose to rest temporarily in the hotel lobby while waiting for their turn to access their rooms.

    “They were not abandoned and there was no accommodation crisis. The pilgrims were simply tired after the long journey and decided to rest while hotel officials completed room allocation procedures,” one official explained.

    Officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria later visited the hotels accommodating Adamawa pilgrims in Makkah to assess the situation following the circulation of the video.

    During the inspection, the officials reportedly interacted directly with the pilgrims, who confirmed that they had all been properly accommodated and catered for.

    The commission also dismissed the viral claims as false and politically motivated, accusing the creator of the video of presenting a misleading narrative that failed to capture the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

    According to findings from the inspection, all pilgrims from Adamawa State who arrived in Makkah were successfully lodged in their assigned hotels.

    Officials further stated that the state government had made extensive arrangements to ensure the comfort and welfare of the pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise.

    The arrangements reportedly included quality accommodation, feeding programmes and medical support services aimed at ensuring a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for the pilgrims.

    The incident has also renewed calls for caution against spreading unverified information on social media, especially on sensitive religious matters.

    He said the initiative was part of his administration’s “Fresh Air” agenda, designed to improve livelihoods, especially among young people, through sustainable transport and energy solutions.

    Fintiri said the state had entered a partnership with private sector players, including Sparrow Mobility Limited, to develop electric transport systems and tackle long-standing transportation challenges.

    According to him, the government would procure and distribute 1,000 electric tricycles at subsidised rates to youths across the state, adding that over 6,000 households have already benefited from solar energy installations in various local government areas.

    In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Dr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, said several mini-grid projects with a combined capacity of about 35 megawatts had been deployed across the state, with more ongoing.

    He attributed the progress to Governor Fintiri’s commitment to expanding energy access.

    Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Adamawa State, Dr. Barth Nyalas, and the General Manager of Adamawa Sunshine, Muhammad Tukur Abbo, described Fintiri as a transformative leader whose administration had delivered significant development across sectors.

    Governors Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya have scaled major political hurdles ahead of the 2027 general elections after securing clearance from their respective parties to contest senatorial seats.

    Fintiri successfully completed his screening as an aspirant for the Adamawa Northern Senatorial Zone, strengthening speculation over his move to the National Assembly after the completion of his tenure as governor.

    In Gombe State, Governor Yahaya was formally cleared by the All Progressives Congress screening committee to contest for the Gombe North Senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.

    The development sparked reactions from supporters and political associates, who described Yahaya’s clearance as a reflection of public confidence in his leadership and service to the state.

    A supporter identified as JIG, in a congratulatory message, said the governor’s political journey had been defined by “service, sacrifice and commitment to the people of Gombe State.”

    The Adamawa State Muslim Welfare Commission says it has completed arrangements for the 2026 Hajj operation, with medical screening for intending pilgrims already underway.

    The Executive Chairman of the commission, Abubakar Salihu, disclosed this during a strategic briefing with the state medical team.

    Salihu said the commission had put in place adequate measures to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj exercise for pilgrims from the state.

    He stressed the importance of comprehensive medical screening for all intending pilgrims, noting that no health condition should be overlooked during the exercise.

    According to him, pilgrims are also prohibited from carrying unapproved medications in violation of the health regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

    “All pilgrims are expected to report at the Hajj camp on Friday, while the first flight is scheduled to depart on Saturday morning,” he said.

    He added that a second batch of pilgrims would be airlifted the following day.

    Speaking on behalf of the medical team, Yerima Suleiman assured the commission of the team’s readiness and commitment to professionalism and fairness during the screening process.

    The medical team said special attention would be given to female pilgrims, particularly pregnant women.

    It explained that all female pilgrims would undergo proper screening, including pregnancy tests where necessary, in line with Saudi Arabian regulations.

    The officials added that pregnant women would not be allowed to participate in the Hajj exercise.

    They also advised intending pilgrims to carry only prescribed medications in their original packaging to avoid possible complications during the pilgrimage.

    The Adamawa State Police Command has acknowledged allegations circulating on social media accusing some of its personnel of harassment, unlawful detention, extortion, and threats to life in Adamawa State.

    The allegations reportedly involve officers attached to the Kofare Police Station.

    In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command said it had taken note of the claims and assured the public that the matter was receiving attention in line with established disciplinary procedures.

    The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said allegations of misconduct against police personnel are treated seriously in accordance with the principles of accountability, professionalism, and respect for human rights.

    It added that the Command remained committed to ensuring that all complaints are thoroughly investigated and handled impartially.

    The police also urged members of the public, especially the complainant and his legal representatives, to cooperate with the ongoing investigation by providing relevant information and evidence that could assist the process.

    The Commissioner of Police, through the statement, reiterated the Command’s commitment to justice, transparency, and the protection of all residents of the state, irrespective of tribe, religion, or social status.

    The Command further assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken if any officer is found culpable after investigation.
