Michika Monarch Commends Marwa, Seeks Partnership with NDLEA

The Mbege Ka Michika of Adamawa State, His Royal Majesty Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, has commended the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), for his exemplary leadership and dedication to the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Gadiga gave the commendation on Monday in Abuja when he led members of his traditional council on a courtesy visit to Marwa at the NDLEA National Headquarters.

The monarch, who described Marwa as a pride to the Michika Kingdom and Nigeria at large, lauded his contributions to community development through the provision of infrastructure, scholarships, and empowerment initiatives.

“We are here to appreciate all the support you have given to our community and to express our solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to eradicate illicit drugs — a cause you have championed effectively,” Gadiga said.

He assured Marwa of Michika Kingdom’s commitment to partnering with the NDLEA in its anti-drug campaign, noting that letters had already been sent to churches and mosques to sensitize residents against drug abuse and trafficking.

“We are open to further collaboration with the NDLEA in the areas of sensitization and enforcement of drug laws,” the royal father added.

In his remarks, Marwa congratulated Gadiga on his appointment as Mbege Ka Michika and expressed appreciation for the monarch’s support for the Agency’s activities in the area.

“The drug scourge is a challenge in every community, and everyone must join hands to tackle it,” Marwa said. “We appreciate the support Your Majesty has rendered to our command in Michika, especially in logistics. We hope this example will inspire other royal fathers.”

He emphasized that the fight against drug abuse requires collective effort from traditional institutions, religious leaders, and the wider society.

Marwa urged the monarch to establish a drug control committee within his domain to strengthen collaboration with the NDLEA at the grassroots level.

Other members of the monarch’s entourage included retired Gen. Bitrus Kangye, Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, Dr. John Quaghe, and Halima Buba.
