Rep. Abdulkadir Umar Sarki (Makaman Duguri), representing Alkaleri/Kirfi Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, on Saturday launched a large-scale empowerment programme for his constituents.
The programme, implemented under the All Progressives Congress (APC), featured the distribution of 20 cars, 150 motorcycles, 100 sewing machines, 100 bicycles for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and 100 water pumps to farmers in the constituency.
Sarki also disbursed N200 million as financial support to women groups, youths, traders and vulnerable households across Alkaleri and Kirfi Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker said the initiative was part of his commitment to improving livelihoods and reducing poverty in the constituency.
He said the intervention was designed to empower farmers, artisans, small business owners and PWDs with tools to enhance productivity and self-reliance.
“This empowerment programme is in fulfilment of my campaign promises to uplift our people and support economic growth at the grassroots. We will continue to initiate projects that will improve the wellbeing of our communities,” he said.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation, saying the gesture came at a time of economic difficulty and would help strengthen household income.
Community leaders in the two LGAs commended the lawmaker for what they described as a timely and impactful initiative.
They called on other elected representatives in the state to emulate the gesture and support development efforts in their constituencies.
Sarki assured that more interventions in education, healthcare and water supply would be executed to further improve living conditions in the area.
