The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has warned students and members of the public to disregard a fraudulent message circulating on social media, claiming that the NELFUND Student Loan Registration Portal is currently open.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Fund said the message contains a third-party link purported to lead applicants to the loan registration platform. It identified the link — http://gvly.xyz/Nelfund-Student-Loan — as fake, unauthorised and potentially harmful.
NELFUND urged students not to click the link or submit any personal information on the platform, stressing that all legitimate updates on the student loan programme are only issued through its verified communication channels.
The Fund advised applicants to remain vigilant online and report suspicious links or messages impersonating NELFUND.
“Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” it stated.
The agency added that the advisory forms part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard students and protect the integrity of the student loan application process.
