Adamawa Govt Unveils 2025 Sweeper Truck, Strengthens Partnership On Recycling

The Adamawa State Government has unveiled a newly procured 2025 model sweeper truck as part of efforts to enhance environmental sanitation and promote a cleaner, healthier environment across the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources Development, Mohammed Sadiq Kalu, performed the unveiling on Wednesday at the Unity Flyover in Jimeta, Yola.

Kalu said the initiative aligns with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to modernising waste management and strengthening partnerships with Chinese firms to introduce recycling systems that would support environmental sustainability.

He recalled that a few weeks earlier, the State Executive Council approved the procurement of the modern sweeper truck through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Development to improve sanitation and ensure safer surroundings, especially within major urban centres.

The commissioner, who was accompanied by the permanent secretary and other senior officials of the ministry, said the arrival and deployment of the truck would significantly boost the cleaning of major roads within the Yola metropolis.

Addressing sanitation workers during the unveiling, Kalu noted that the Fresh Air Administration remained determined to introduce innovations aimed at transforming the state.

He added that ongoing discussions with Chinese partners were geared towards establishing functional recycling systems that would support waste-to-value initiatives and contribute to the state’s broader development agenda.

Kalu also called on residents to continue supporting Governor Fintiri’s developmental programmes, particularly those aimed at improving environmental health.

Meanwhile, ad-hoc sweeping staff in Jimeta welcomed the development, saying the sweeper truck would reduce the physical strain of their daily tasks. They commended Governor Fintiri for his commitment to strengthening environmental sanitation and improving working conditions for sanitation workers.
