Residents of Maiduguri have been advised not to panic as troops will conduct a test-fire exercise between Njimtilo and Duwari at about 2100 hours on Wednesday.
A statement issued on Wednesday said the activity is part of the military’s routine operational readiness drills aimed at enhancing troops’ preparedness.
It noted that residents in communities around Njimtilo, Duwari and adjoining areas may hear loud firing sounds during the period and urged the public to remain calm and go about their normal activities.
The statement assured that necessary safety measures have been put in place to ensure the exercise is conducted without incident.
