Elder statesman, renowned philanthropist and business magnate, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, has announced plans to usher in a new wave of private investment into Borno State.
The pledge was made during a high-profile visit led by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to Indimi’s residence in Maiduguri on Tuesday.
The visit was to express gratitude for Indimi’s generous two-billion Naira donation to the University of Maiduguri, announced over the weekend.
During their discussions, Alhaji Indimi informed Governor Zulum that he had been actively engaging with a network of domestic and international investors, many of whom are now willing to explore opportunities in Borno State.
“Your Excellency, I am very deeply touched by this honour from Borno. I did everything because I love my state. Your Excellency, you are doing a great job. Even yesterday, I received guests from Switzerland and I am so proud because right now, Maiduguri is one of the beautiful cities in Nigeria,” Indimi said.
He also stressed, “We are ready to support. Already, I have so many people who want to come and invest. Soon, you will start seeing people coming to you at the Government House.”
Beyond economic investments, Indimi also announced his plan for interventions in the state’s educational and healthcare infrastructure, including Kashim Ibrahim University in Maiduguri and the new Teaching Hospital currently under construction.
In his earlier remarks, Governor Zulum commended Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi for his unwavering and transformative support for the education sector, not only in Borno but across Nigeria.
The delegation comprises the Waziri of Borno, Mutawali Shettima Bukar; the Chief Imam of Borno, Zanna Laisu Ibrahim; the Secretary of Borno Elders Forum, Dr Bulama Mali Gubio; the Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Laminu Mele; and other principal officers of the University of Maiduguri.
Also present were the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jibrilla Dahiru Amin, Prof. Mala Mohammed Daura, and Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, members of Borno State Executive Council, and other senior members of the University community.
