Police Recruitment : Key Guidelines for Successful Online Application

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has released important guidelines for applicants seeking recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in the 2025 exercise, urging prospective candidates to strictly follow the outlined steps to avoid disqualification.

In a notice issued on Friday, the PSC emphasized that all documents uploaded during the application process must be in JPEG format only, warning that failure to comply may result in an unsuccessful submission.

The commission also advised applicants to use a computer rather than a mobile phone when applying, noting that the recruitment portal functions more efficiently on desktop devices and reduces the risk of errors during data entry.
According to the PSC, applicants are required to upload five compulsory attachments, including a passport photograph (50KB–100KB), Local Government Area certificate (200KB–500KB), birth certificate (300KB–600KB), WAEC or NECO result (300KB–600KB), and professional certificates for specialists where applicable (300KB–600KB).

The application process begins by visiting the official recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, where first-time users are expected to select the “Start Application” option, while returning applicants should choose “Resume Application” to continue from where they stopped.

The PSC cautioned applicants to carefully follow on-screen instructions and ensure all required fields are accurately completed, stressing that mistakes could be costly and may lead to disqualification.

Applicants were further advised to preview their entries before final submission. However, the commission clarified that previewing the form does not amount to submission.

“Any applicant who stops at the preview stage without clicking the submit button will be considered not to have properly applied and will be disqualified,” the PSC stated.
Upon successful submission, applicants are expected to print out their submission slip.

Those who are later declared qualified will be required to print and complete their guarantors’ forms in preparation for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

The Police Service Commission wished all applicants success, urging them to adhere strictly to the guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful application process.
