Zulum approves employment for 81 top KIU graduates

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate employment of 81 top graduating students of the Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), most of whom hold first-class and second-class upper degrees.

Zulum announced the approval during the university’s maiden combined convocation ceremony on Saturday, an event graced by high-level dignitaries, including the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

The Governor, who is also the Visitor to the University, stated that the employment offer is a strategic investment in the state’s future.

“I want to inform the gathering that I have approved the recruitment of all the 81 best graduating students of the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 graduating classes as lecturers of this University. Effective January 1, 2026, in sha Allah, and in addition to their automatic employment, we shall also send them to study their postgraduate programmes both within and outside Nigeria insha Allah,” he said.

The occasion witnessed a major donation from the office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima. He announced that two electric buses would be provided to the university.

Other notable leaders that attended the convocation include the Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni; the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya; and a representative of the Governor of Kebbi State. Also present was the prominent philanthropist and businessman, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, whose foundation has been a key supporter of education in Nigeria.

The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, accompanied by many traditional rulers from different states, also attended the convocation.

The Vice-Chancellor of KIU, Prof. Babagana Gutti, expressed gratitude to all that have contributed to shaping the University and achieving the current feat.
