Two PDP Lawmakers Decamp to APC in Gombe

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has received two members of the Gombe State House of Assembly who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers are Hon. Gabriel Galadima Fushison, representing Kaltungo West Constituency, and Hon. Malon Nimrod Yari, representing Billiri West Constituency.

They were led to the governor by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, alongside the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sadam Bello, and other principal officers of the Assembly.

Speaking during the visit, the defecting lawmakers said their decision to join the APC was influenced by Gov. Inuwa Yahaya’s inclusive style of governance, leadership approach and performance across the state.

They said that despite being members of the opposition, they were not marginalised, noting that their constituencies continued to benefit from government projects and programmes.

According to them, the governor’s fairness, accessibility and commitment to equitable development convinced them to align politically with the ruling party to further support the state’s development agenda.

Welcoming them into the APC, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya described the defections as a vote of confidence in his administration and its policies.

He assured the lawmakers of equal treatment and full integration into the party, stressing that the APC remained committed to unity, progress and service to the people of the state.

The governor also commended the leadership and members of the House of Assembly for maintaining a cordial relationship with the executive arm, which he said had contributed to peace, stability and development in the state.

He expressed optimism that the APC would record significant success in the 2027 general elections with sustained unity within the party.

It will be recalled that the Minority Whip of the House, Hon. Zubairu Ayala, had earlier defected from the PDP to the APC.

With the latest development, the APC now controls 23 of the 24 seats in the Gombe State House of Assembly.
