Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Saturday inspected selected hospitals and medical facilities in Jalingo earmarked to provide specialised healthcare services during the renovation of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital.
The inspection tour was aimed at assessing the readiness and suitability of alternative health facilities that will temporarily take over specialist medical services following the planned closure of the state-owned specialist hospital for renovation.
Speaking during the exercise, Kefas said the state government was committed to ensuring uninterrupted access to quality healthcare for residents, despite the ongoing infrastructural upgrades.
“The purpose of this visit is to identify and confirm facilities that can effectively deliver specialised services while renovation work is ongoing at the Taraba State Specialist Hospital,” the governor said.
He assured residents that the government would continue to intensify efforts across critical sectors to ease the challenges faced by the people, particularly in healthcare delivery.
Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to strengthen the state’s health system and improve service delivery, noting that the renovation of the specialist hospital was part of broader reforms to modernise healthcare infrastructure in Taraba State.
The governor was accompanied by top government officials and health sector stakeholders during the inspection.
