Bauchi Police Arrest Suspect Over Viral Video of Inhuman Treatment, Hunt for Others

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with a viral video showing the confinement and inhuman violation of an adult female in the state.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the command’s attention was drawn to the disturbing video circulating on social media, prompting immediate action by operatives.

According to the statement, the victim has been traced and identified, while the suspect arrested is believed to have hosted the crime scene. The police noted that investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the principal suspects involved in the act.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc (+), mni, strongly condemned the incident, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable. He warned suspects currently at large to surrender themselves, stressing that the police would stop at nothing to ensure they are arrested and prosecuted.

“The command will relentlessly pursue all those involved and bring them to book,” the commissioner said.

The police assured members of the public that further details would be made available as investigations progress, while reiterating their commitment to protecting human rights and ensuring justice for victims of abuse in Bauchi State.
