The All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation, chaired by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Monday held its inaugural meeting with a pledge to resolve lingering disputes and address potential threats within the party.
According to a statement signed by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor of Yobe State, Mr Mamman Mohammed, the meeting marked the formal commencement of the committee’s assignment to strengthen unity, deepen internal cohesion and enhance mobilisation across the party nationwide.
Members of the committee include Governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta.
Other members are Senator Adamu Aliero, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, while Mr Muiz Banire (SAN) serves as secretary.
Speaking at the inauguration of the committee in December, Buni said the panel would adopt strategic engagements and wide consultations to achieve sustainable outcomes that would promote inclusion and reconciliation within the party.
“The committee will adopt strategic engagements and wide consultations to develop all-encompassing and productive results that will stand the test of time, giving both old and new members, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and inclusion, with renewed hope,” he said.
Buni added that the committee would also focus on proactive measures to address emerging threats to the party’s stability.
He urged members not to allow personal interests or sentiments to override the collective purpose for which the committee was constituted.
The committee is expected to engage critical stakeholders across the country as part of efforts to consolidate internal harmony and strengthen the APC’s political base.
