The Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with the military, has launched rescue operations following an attack on Gare Village in Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, by suspected terrorists.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed in a statement on Monday that the attack occurred in the early hours of the day.
Nguroje said the incident led to the abduction of six members of a family and the rustling of livestock.
He said upon receiving the report, the command immediately intensified collaboration with sister security agencies and deployed additional personnel and operational assets to the affected area and adjoining communities.
According to him, the joint operation involves the Nigeria Police Force, troops of the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed sustained search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols and heightened security presence across Madagali and other border communities,” the statement said.
Nguroje said the measures were aimed at ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims and preventing further security threats in the area.
He added that the police command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, remained fully committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
The police assured residents that further updates would be communicated as operations progress.
