The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened applications for a comprehensive skills development and empowerment programme aimed at training youths from the Niger Delta on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion.
The programme, which will be implemented across the nine states of the Niger Delta region, is designed to build human capacity, promote job creation and support environmental sustainability.
According to the commission, the CNG Vehicle Conversion Training Programme will equip beneficiaries with practical and verifiable skills in Autogas Conversion Technology, in line with its mandate to enhance skills development in the region.
The NDDC said the initiative would also contribute to the development of a more reliable and sustainable transportation sector, stimulate economic growth and reduce harmful emissions through the adoption of cleaner energy solutions.
The commission stated that applicants must be indigenes of any of the nine Niger Delta states and fall within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years.
It added that prospective participants are required to possess a minimum qualification of SSCE or WAEC in science-related subjects, OND in sciences or a Trade Test Certificate from a recognised institution.
The NDDC explained that individuals with recognised technical qualifications in automotive, mechanical or allied trades, as well as fresh engineering graduates within the Niger Delta with interest in CNG conversion technology, are also eligible to apply.
Interested applicants are required to apply online via the NDDC skills portal at http://skills.nddc.gov.ng, noting that applications will only be received through the commission’s official web platform.
The commission warned that multiple applications would attract automatic disqualification, while only shortlisted candidates would be contacted for further screening.
It also disclosed that beneficiaries of previous NDDC skills acquisition and empowerment programmes are not eligible to apply and advised that applications must be submitted within ten days from the date of publication.
The NDDC said the programme reflects its commitment to youth empowerment, environmental conservation and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
