The Federal Government says it has trained no fewer than 54,377 civil servants in job-relevant digital skills under its ongoing Digital Literacy for All Workforce Programme.
The initiative, implemented by the National Information Technology Development Agency in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, is aimed at building a digitally competent public service workforce.
Chimdimma Ndubisi reports that the programme forms part of the present administration’s mid-term target of achieving 70 per cent digital literacy among Nigerians by 2027.
According to officials, the training is designed to equip civil servants with practical, on-the-job digital competencies to enhance productivity, efficiency and service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Participants are required to contact their respective organisations’ designated Champions to enrol and access the training link provided via their official emails.
To encourage participation and timely completion, the government presented 35 laptops to civil servants who successfully concluded the training within the stipulated timeframe.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to deepening digital transformation in the public sector as part of broader efforts to modernise governance and improve service delivery nationwide.
