Gombe Gov Dissolves Cabinet, Orders Aspirants to Resign by April 10

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, ending the tenure of commissioners who have served in his cabinet for over two and a half years.

The decision was announced on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, shortly after the 53rd session of the State Executive Council.

Njodi said the governor directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before April 10 to ensure continuity in governance and administrative stability.

He added that the governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing council members for their dedication, loyalty and sacrifices in advancing the state’s development agenda.

According to him, the governor acknowledged the contributions of the commissioners in implementing policies and programmes that positively impacted citizens, and wished them success in their future endeavours.

In a related directive, Yahaya ordered all political appointees, including aides and office holders aspiring to contest in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, to resign their appointments on or before April 10.

Njodi explained that the directive was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and compliance with existing electoral laws and guidelines.
