Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, on Monday led other dignitaries in honour of fallen heroes and Laying of Wreath in commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in Yobe.

The event, which marked the climax of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem Appeal Fund, took place today the Events Centre, Government House, Damaturu, and it was well attended by Government officials, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and members of the state branch of the Nigeria Legion as well as family members of the fallen heroes.
Special prayers were offered by both Christian and Muslim military clerics for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes and for the peace of Yobe state and the nation in general.
Governor Mai Mala Buni paid glowing tribute to the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in the fight against insurgency in the north east and other criminal activities as well as in protecting the territorial integrity of the country.
The Honourable Speaker, Yobe state House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of Yobe state, Commander Sector II, Operation Hadin Kai, Damaturu, Commissioner of Police Yobe State Command, Director Security Services, Yobe State Command, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Fika/Chairman Yobe State Council of Chiefs, the Chairman Nigerian Legion, Yobe State, the Representative of Widows also laid the wreaths in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.
The Governor released white pigeons to signify peace across the state and the nation in general.
The Yobe state Government had earlier donated the sum of N22 million to the family of the state chapter of the Nigerian Legion during an emblem appeal fund event last week. H.E Gov. Buni also made a personal donation of B2 million during the event to support the members of the legion.
