The Yobe State Government has partnered with the Trans-Sahara Consortium to embark on a monumental investment of $2 billion in the livestock sector and the establishment of a 1000 MW solar power plant.
This collaboration aims to bolster the livestock industry, enhance agricultural practices through solar-powered irrigation systems, and promote precision agriculture in the region.
Mr. Victor Terrah, the Chief Executive Officer of Trans Sahara Consortium Limited, highlighted the company’s comprehensive approach to transforming the livestock value chain, emphasizing the utilization of innovative breeding techniques to enhance production efficiency and quality.
The consortium’s investment strategy includes allocating $2 billion towards exporting beef to global markets via the newly constructed international cargo airport, alongside the development of a substantial 1000 MW solar power plant to support advanced irrigation systems for agricultural activities.
Malam Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the Yobe State Government, representing Governor Mai Mala Buni, expressed the state’s dedication to revolutionizing the cattle trading and production sector through the signed memorandum of agreement.
The initiative focuses on leveraging indigenous and exotic cattle breeds, optimizing land resources, and integrating cutting-edge technologies like biotechnology and blockchain to drive progress and innovation in the industry.
