Women Affairs Ministry Partners UNICEF To Tackle Child Marriage In Adamawa

The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, in collaboration with UNICEF, held a sensitization awareness session with traditional and religious leaders on ending early marriage in Adamawa State.

The event, which took place on Monday at Dantsoho Hotel, Yola, aimed to discourage the harmful practice of child marriage.

Honorable Commissioner, Mrs. Wunfe B Anthony, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of prioritizing girls’ rights, dreams, and potential.

“Today, we stand united in a powerful movement that prioritizes the rights, dreams, and potential of our girls,” she said.

Child marriage is a global issue that denies millions of girls their childhood, education, and potential. It exposes them to health risks and robs them of the opportunity to shape their own destinies.

The Commissioner urged participants to come together to share ideas, strategies, and solutions to make a real difference.

The session aimed to create a world where every girl can dream big, pursue ambitions, and shape a brighter future, not as a child bride but as a leader, innovator, and change maker. By working together, stakeholders can empower girls to reach their full potential and create a better future for all.
