An investigation by the Taraba State government has revealed that 864 civil servants are receiving two to three salaries per month.
The discovery was made by the office of the state’s Head of Civil Service, which found that some civil servants were receiving triple salaries every month.
According to a statement from the Head of Civil Service’s office, the funds for the additional salaries were directly transferred to the designated company responsible for passport processing, following a N2,000 deduction from July salaries for passport fees authorized by the appropriate authorities.
This development has raised concerns about the management of the state’s payroll system and the potential for fraud. The Taraba State government has yet to comment on the next steps it will take to address this issue.
