Floods Wreak Havoc in Northern Adamawa, Bridges Collapse

A devastating flood has struck Shuwa in Madagali local government, Adamawa State, leaving a trail of destruction and displacing communities in Shuwa, Kirchinga, and Gulak.

The disaster has resulted in the collapse of two critical bridges: the Wagga-Madagali Bridge linking Adamawa and Borno States, and the only bridge connecting Shuwa and Gulak town.

Countless travelers are stranded, and numerous houses and farms have been destroyed by the raging waters, causing significant disruption to transportation and economic activities in the region.

Victims of the flood, including Musa Shuwa and Salihu Adamu, are calling for government action to address the disaster and reconstruct the Yola-Maiduguri highway and other bridges along the federal highway to prevent future disasters.

The situation is becoming increasingly dire, with thousands of households, lands, and livelihoods affected, and the government and humanitarian organizations must work together to provide aid and support to affected communities.
