Borno Media Practitioners Inducted into Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analysts

Twelve media practitioners from Borno State were officially inducted into the Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analysts (NISMA) following a two-day Mandatory Educational Training and Development (METAD) workshop held at the Women Development Centre in Abuja.

The event took place on Saturday, with the theme “Information Disorder: The Danger of Third Generation Social Media.”

The training covered critical topics like curbing fake news, public relations, fact-checking, and the dangers of information disorder.

The attendees were sponsored by key figures, including the Senator representing Borno Central, the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, the Executive Secretary of BICTDA, Ministry of Energy and Transport, Ministry of Works and Housing, and the Education Secretary MMC.

The induction ceremony was presided over by DIG Frank Mba, President of NISMA, who urged the new members to apply their acquired skills in regulating social media effectively and to serve as responsible ambassadors of the institute.

The event was graced by prominent guests, including the Director Generals of NBC, NCC, NITDA, NOA, the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the Deputy Senate President, and representatives from the DSS.

NISMA is a recognized professional and academic body, affiliated with the Association of International Social Media Analysts, and is endorsed by several national statutory institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Justice, Corporate Affairs Commission, National Broadcasting Commission, and the Ministry of Education.
