Taraba Govt Denies Plans To Demolish Central Mosque, Palace

The Taraba State government has denied any plans to Demolish the Central Mosque in Takum or the Palace as erroneously reported in some sections of the media.

The rebuttal was contained in a statement by Barr Zainab Usman Jalingo Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation, on Monday in Jalingo.

It would be recalled that the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN), a cultural umbrella body of Kuteb worldwide Saturday said it opposed the planned demolition of Takum Central Mosque and the Ukwe Takum’s palace in Takum local government area of Taraba..

Reacting to this, Barr Jalingo described the rumour as baseless.

The statement reads, “The Taraba State Government’s attention has been drawn to a baseless rumor circulating, which falsely suggests plans to demolish the Central Mosque in Takum and the old Palace.

“The Taraba State Government, under Governor Agbu Kefas’ leadership, categorically refutes this claim, emphasizing that no such plans exist.

“This false information, fabricated with malicious intent, aims to provoke fear and tension within the community.

“Our commitment to delivering good governance and meaningful development benefits all citizens equally, regardless of their religion or tribe.

“These falsehoods, spread by chaos-mongers, will not distract us.

“The people of Taraba State are advised to disregard these rumours. The state government remains committed to peace, unity, growth, welfare and justice for all” she disclosed.
