Professor Gutti Takes Over As Substantive VC BOSU

Professor Babagana Gutti has officially taken over as the second substantive Vice Chancellor (VC) of Borno State University (BOSU) on Tuesday October 22, 2024.

The University Senate Chamber was packed with intellectuals, including associates, colleagues, friends, and mentees, all gathered to witness this significant transition, the handover ceremony.

The acting VC, Professor H. Dlakwa introduced Professor Gutti, highlighting his outstanding performance and impressive CV, which left no doubt about his capacity to lead the university to greater heights. Professor H. D. Dlakwa expressed gratitude for the support he received from staff and students and encouraged them to extend the same support to the new VC.

In his remark, Professor Gutti thanked His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for the opportunity to serve BOSU, the state, and humanity.

He assured the governor that he would align with the 25-year developmental plan and 10-year strategic plan of Borno State through community service and research. Professor Gutti also appreciated the governing council, Senate members, and staff for their support.

Professor Gutti promised to unveil his plan for BOSU’s growth and development. He also assured the audience that his doors are always open for suggestions and constructive criticism.

Finally, Professor Gutti expressed joy and gratitude for his friends and family’s unwavering support, particularly from his father and wife.

Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha, acting chairman of the Governing Council, expressed optimism that Prof. Gutti is capable of overcoming challenges and meeting the public’s high expectations. The event culminated in the handover of the official document, marking the official transition of power.

On behalf of Prof. Gutti’s family, friends and Associates, Engr. Dr. Ali Yaumi appreciated the governor, the governing council, the Senate, and the entire staff of the university. Stating that much is expected from whom much is given, he assured all that the new VC will work for the common good of the university in line with the vision of  Gov. Zulum and the university.
