Adamawa Govt Approves N1.6bn For 25 Security Pickup Vehicles

The Adamawa State Government has approved N1.6 billion to procure 25 brand-new Innoson Pickup vehicles for security agencies in the state.

This decision was made at the 18th State Executive Council meeting in 2024, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Council Chambers Government House, in Yola, Wednesday.

According to Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, the approval aims to reinforce security agencies in addressing pockets of insecurity within the state.

He further said the council has approved the construction of an e-payment office block for the State Accountant General’s office, costing over N353 million.

Contributing, Commissioner of Livestock Development, Tijjani Maksha, reported an outbreak of contagious livestock diseases in some local government areas.

Tinjani Maksha said measures have been taken to mitigate the spread, including sending samples to a laboratory in Jos for testing.

He revealed that the State Government has also taken proactive measures to prevent the spread of livestock diseases. Following an outbreak of a cattle disease in a neighboring state, Adamawa swung into action and curtailed it.

The Commissioner added that as a result, the federal ministries of livestock and agriculture donated 350 doses of vaccines and accessories to assist the state.

He announced reactivation of the annual livestock vaccination program to curb rabies and other diseases.
