The Adamawa State Executive Council (EXCO) has approved the renovation and construction of offices at the headquarters and central workshop of the State Agricultural Mechanisation Agency, following the destruction caused during the End SARS protests.
The approval was granted at the 23rd State Executive Council Meeting for 2024, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday at the Council Chambers, Government House, Yola.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. James Iliya, stated that the renovation and construction projects were vital to safeguarding government assets and agricultural resources.
He disclosed that the contract for the project was awarded to Kachala Multi Links Ltd at a cost of N197,254,398.45.
In addition, Hon. Iliya announced that the EXCO had approved the publication of the Business Enabling Reform Action Plan for 2025 to meet the eligibility criteria for the World Bank’s State Action on Business Enabling Reform Programme. The plan is to be published on the Adamawa State website by Dec. 31, 2024.
Furthermore, the council approved a Phase 1 intervention fund of N238,750,000 to support 955 households affected by flooding across five local government areas: Numan, Lamurde, Madagali, Michika, and Demsa. Each household will receive N250,000 as part of the recovery and development phase.
The Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Human Services, Barrister Bello Hamman Diram, emphasized that the emergency phase of flood response had already been addressed, and the current effort is aimed at ensuring long-term recovery for affected communities.
