Adamawa Government Boosts Capacity of MDAs on Policy Implementation

The Adamawa State Planning Commission has organized a two-day capacity-building workshop for key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to enhance the implementation of government policies in the state.

The workshop, held on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, at the State Planning Commission Conference Hall in Yola, aimed to equip MDAs with the tools necessary to execute policies effectively.

Dr. Mary Paninga, the Executive Chairman of the State Planning Commission, in her address, commended Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for supporting capacity-building initiatives for MDAs to enhance policy execution.

According to her, the state has developed and approved about 10 policies across various sectors, with several already under implementation.

She stressed the importance of achieving the goals of these policies to ensure they yield tangible and meaningful outcomes for the people.

Paninga also gave an overview of the Adamawa State Social Protection Policy, which is designed to address poverty and vulnerability in the state.

She explained that the policy focuses on five key objectives: Social Protection, Social Insurance, Labour Market Interventions, Transformative Social Care and Complementary Measures, and Establishing and Strengthening the Social Protection System.

She noted that the policy aims to reduce the state’s poverty rate, currently at 67%, by 15% by 2028 while promoting an inclusive and secure society.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Kwaji Duguri, highlighted strategies for implementing the Social Protection Policy during his presentation.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the State Planning Commission, Alhaji Hassan Modibbo, welcomed participants to the workshop, urging them to utilize the training to foster development in the state.

The event concluded with participants engaging in group activities aimed at identifying practical solutions for effective policy implementation.
