Gombe Governor Appoints 109 Substantive Directors in Civil Service

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the appointment of 109 substantive directors in the state civil service.

The newly appointed directors include 23 from the administrative cadre, while the remaining are drawn from various professional cadres across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Chairperson of the Gombe State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Mrs. Rabi Shu’aibu Jimeta, mni, who conveyed the governor’s approval, said the appointments followed a rigorous, merit-based selection process to ensure that only the most qualified officers assume top positions in the civil service.

She explained that the selection process involved a capacity-building workshop, a written examination, and a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for 172 deputy directors across different cadres.

“The final selection was based on performance, experience, and dedication to duty, in line with civil service regulations,” she said.

Jimeta urged the newly appointed directors to see their elevation as a call to higher responsibility, emphasizing professionalism, dedication, and improved service delivery.

“To whom much is given, much is expected,” she reminded them.

Governor Yahaya has remained committed to civil service reforms, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation to modernize the sector. His administration has prioritized capacity building and merit-based promotions to ensure a highly functional workforce.

The appointment of the 109 directors is expected to further strengthen Gombe State’s bureaucratic structure and enhance governance.

In 2021, Governor Yahaya had approved the appointment of 102 substantive directors, comprising 31 from the administrative cadre and 71 from professional cadres, as part of his broader strategy to strengthen the civil service and improve governance.
