
The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved contracts worth over N23 billion for major infrastructural projects aimed at boosting development, revenue generation, and employment in the state.
The approvals were made during the Council’s meeting held Friday at the Government House, Yola, and presided over by Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr James Iliya, disclosed that the largest contract awarded is for the construction of the Adamawa State International Conference and Event Centre at a cost of N18.972 billion.
The contract, awarded to Messrs Lubell Nigeria Limited, will feature a 1,000-capacity multipurpose hall, 350-capacity auditorium, seminar and syndicate rooms, restaurants, shops, medical support facilities, and other ancillary structures.
According to Iliya, the facility is expected to serve as a key venue for both local and international events, attract investors, and enhance the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) while creating employment opportunities.
The Council also approved a revised design for the popular stand roof and roof covering of the Adamawa State Stadium Complex, valued at N1.96 billion. The project, awarded to Messrs Aron Nigeria Limited, is aimed at upgrading the stadium to international standards and enhancing its resilience to windstorms.
In addition, the Council approved the renovation and remodeling of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna at the cost of N614 million. The contract was awarded to Messrs Albarka Building Construction Limited.
Also approved was a N2 billion counterpart contribution to the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP-SU), a collaborative initiative designed to improve rural infrastructure and market access for farmers.
In another development, the Council announced a ban on the indiscriminate pasting of posters on public structures across the state. Iliya warned that violators would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
