
The Federal Government has approved the emergency reconstruction of the Namnai Bridge in Jalingo, Taraba State, alongside several other critical bridge rehabilitation projects across the country.
The approval, granted at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, covers interventions for the Ido Bridge, which sustained fire damage requiring the removal of three spans; the Keffi Flyover in Nasarawa State; Mokwa Bridge in Niger State; a damaged bridge on the Abuja–Kogi route; and bridges between Lagos and Ibadan affected by vehicle collisions.
Other projects approved include repairs to the Jebba Bridge in Kwara State and the Itokin–Ikorodu Bridge in Lagos State.
According to the council, the interventions are aimed at restoring safe transportation, improving connectivity, and reducing travel disruptions caused by the damaged structures.
The Minister of Works stated that the approvals reflect the government’s commitment to prioritising road and bridge infrastructure to enhance economic activities and ensure the safety of commuters nationwide.
