MNJTF, Operation Hadin Kai commanders inspect troops’ operations in Lake Chad

The Force Commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Godwin Mutkut, and the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, have jointly inspected troops’ operations in Sector 3, Baga, Borno State.

The operational visit, held on Thursday, was aimed at assessing counter-terrorism efforts in the Lake Chad waterways and evaluating the deployment of platforms and equipment in the area.

During the exercise, the commanders received operational briefings from the Commander of 403 Amphibious Brigade, Brigadier General Emmanuel Agada, and the Commander of Naval Base Lake Chad, Commodore Peter Yilme. The briefings highlighted strategies being employed to secure the waterways and safeguard economic activities in the region.

General Mutkut emphasized the importance of coordination, vigilance, and effective monitoring of troops’ performance, stressing that stability in the Lake Chad Basin remained crucial to the security of all member nations.

On his part, General Abubakar urged troops to remain alert and professional while ensuring the safety of farming and fishing activities that are vital to the livelihoods of local communities. He further underscored the need to prioritize troops’ welfare, enhance communication, and ensure proper use of resources.

The visit was attended by senior officers of the MNJTF, Theatre Command, and Sector 3 of OPHK.
